‘Success to the Fullest’: the story of Yehor Diachenko

Yehor Diachenko is a student of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’ of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies (speciality ‘Computer Science’), the one who certainly stands out. Active, open, and always on the move, he combines studies, creativity, public engagement, and volunteer work while remaining sincere and motivated in everything he does.
 
His choice of the IT field was a conscious one. Back in school, Yehor was already interested in programming, worked with 3D modeling, and explored the basics of databases. He chose the university on his own, was admitted on a state-funded basis, and from his first years of study began actively developing in the chosen field.

His diligence and perseverance have paid off: this academic year, Yehor received the Presidential Scholarship of Ukraine. For him, this is not only an honor, but also confirmation that he made the right choice and an incentive to keep moving forward.

His activities extend far beyond the classroom. Yehor is a member of both the university and institute student councils, a participant in the league of laughter team ‘USUST Project’, and he is actively involved in youth initiatives. In particular, he took part in the ‘Youth Action Platform’ project, where he worked with a team on ideas for community development and environmental responsibility. The team, in which Yehor was as manager, ranked among the top three.

At the end of November 2025, Yehor Diachenko was included in the Children and Youth Office ‘DIiMO’ under the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine. This is another step showing his active civic position and the trust placed in him at the national level.

Music also plays an important role in Yehor’s life. He graduated from music school, plays the piano, and taught himself to play the drums. For him, music is not only a form of creativity but also a way to maintain inner balance. He has performed many times at university events and won the title of ‘Mr. Charisma’ in the ‘Miss and Mister USUST’ competition.

The foundation of Yehor’s values is his family, which is an example of daily care, responsibility, and service to others. His parents are actively involved in volunteer work. Together with their church community, they bake bread for local residents and the military, sometimes as many as 120–130 loaves a day. After the destruction of the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant dam, the family also helped provide water: they drilled a well to supply people with drinking water during a difficult period.
 
Yehor did not stand aside. He helped deliver bread and water to those in need, sometimes even using his own scooter. For him, this is not something extraordinary, but a natural part of life and a way to be useful.
An active civic stance is a shared trait of the whole family. His sister Oleksandra works at a community cultural center and organizes volunteer initiatives, including food drives, weaving camouflage nets, and engaging local residents in providing assistance. His sister Iryna is a paramedic with an emergency medical response team in Marhanets; she has repeatedly assisted people injured in shelling and was awarded the honorary distinction of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, ‘Defense. Unity. Victory’, in October 2025. His brother Davyd works as a teacher at a music school, teaches children to play the guitar, and is also studying at the I. P. Kotliarevskyi Kharkiv National University of Arts.
 
In this family, helping others, creativity, and self-development are not separate activities, but a way of life. Yehor says that success  for him is constant growth, having a purpose, support of loved ones, and understanding that your efforts matter. Among his main qualities, he names proactiveness, responsibility, and openness – and these are exactly what help him move forward.
 
His greatest dream is to see Ukraine rebuilt, strong, and peaceful. He knows that every small step and every good deed is part of the greater path toward that dream. He is grateful to his parents for raising him to be the person he is and for instilling in him the qualities he possesses.
 
Yehor Diachenko is an example of a student who does not simply study, but shapes the environment around him by combining knowledge, initiative, and humanity. He does not strive to be better than everyone else,  he simply takes a step forward every day.
