Collaboration with the JAS and Lyceums

The Department of Ukrainian Studies, Document Studies, and Information Activities at Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture has a rich history of successful collaboration with the communal out-of-school educational institution “Junior Academy of Sciences of Student Youth” of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council. We develop various forms of interaction: participation in the jury of the II stage of the National competition for research works of students – members of the JAS of Ukraine (in 2023 and 2024. the department’s associate professors Larysa Bohuslavska and Inna Mamchych participated as jury members in the regional stage of the competition (section “Literary Creativity” of the scientific department “Literature Studies, Folklore Studies, and Art Studies”). The consultative work of scientists in preparing for the next stage of the competition is equally important (a participant Okolzin Mykyta became a prizewinner of the National competition, winning 2nd place in Ukraine in 2022).

Club activities for JAS listeners are invariably interesting; scientific-popular lectures delivered by department lecturers as part of the collaboration with the Junior Academy attract attention (e.g., “Language – Hieroglyphs, National Codes, Misunderstood Only by the Enemy,” March 2023, etc.). An important step for JAS students on their way to science was participation in orientation sessions, namely “Innovative Processes in Modern Ukrainian Literary Language” (on the trends in language development at the present stage that need to be considered when preparing research work, December 2021), “Research Work of a JAS Member in Questions and Answers” (October 2022  and 2023), “Defending Research Work: Components of Success” (December 2023), conducted by department lecturers.

Skills in scientific research and soft skills are developed by young researchers studying at summer profile schools (the educational program developer is Associate Professor Mamchych I.P.), for example, on the topic “Lexical-Semantic System of Modern Ukrainian Literary Language” at the scientific department “Linguistics” (June 2021) and “The Language Identity of the Researcher” at the scientific department “Literature Studies, Folklore Studies, and Art Studies” (June 2023).

Department lecturers sincerely share their experiences with the younger generation of researchers and colleagues during joint activities at various seminars, practical workshops, coworking sessions, educational forums, and during the work of the jury of the “GENIUS Olympiad” national selection for the Genius Olympiad of Ukraine, organized by the National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.”
