Scientific School “Architectural-Constructive-Technological Systems for Creating a Harmonious Anthropogenic-Natural Environment Based on Balanced Innovative Development and National Traditions”
Founder: Mykola Vasylovych Savytskyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Rector of SHEI PSACEA, Full Member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, the International Academy of Bioenergetic Technologies, the International Engineering Academy, a certified expert, civil engineer, fortificationengineer, and architect.
Main research direction: green construction, ecological architecture, innovative architectural-constructive-technological systems for residential, industrial, transport, and special-purpose structures, and the life cycle of construction materials and buildings.
Over the past 10 years, 12 monographs, over 600 scientific articles, and 50 patents and author certificates have been published. Two Doctors of Technical Sciences and 33 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Architecture and Urban Ecology (Urban EcologySection)”
Founder: Yevhen Pavlovych Samoyliuk, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, founder of the Dnipropetrovsk School of Urban Acoustics, Head of the Department of Urban Construction.
Research Areas:
- Conducting all types of field and instrumental acoustic measurements,theoretical calculations;
- Conducting evaluations, analyses, and forecasts of the acoustic conditions of planned or already constructed noise-protected objects, compared with existing sanitary, building, and technical regulations;
- Developing special measures to compensate for negative impacts and ensuring regulatory or comfortable levels of external noise at protected sites.
Over the past 10 years, 10 collective monographs, 5 textbooks, 1 environmental protection handbook, and over 500 scientific articles have been published. Fifty patents have been obtained. Fifteen Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Architecture and Urban Ecology (Architecture Section)”
Founder: Oleh Borysovych Petrov, Professor, Honored Architect of the USSR, Honorary Academician of the Academy of Architecture of Ukraine, founder of higher architectural education in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Head of the Department of Architectural Design (1968-1979).
Research Areas:
- Environmentally-urban forms of renovation of depressed areas in large cities;
- Systemic aspects of the environmentally-urban transformations of Dnipro’s framework;
- Functional and planning reorganization of industrial areas for recreational use;
- Environmentally-urban approaches to the transformation of cinematic and mobile systems within the planning framework of Dnipro;
- Environmentally-urban features of the transformation of civil buildings and their complexes within the planning structure of large cities (based on the example of Dnipro).
Over the past 10 years, 5 monographs and over 200 scientific articles have been published; 5 patents have been obtained. Four Doctors of Architecture and 17 Candidates of Sciences have been trained
Scientific School “Materials Science and New Materials for Steel Building Structures”
Founder: Volodymyr Ivanovych Bolshakov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine, Full Member of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine, and the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Processing.
Research Areas:
- Technologies for producing high-strength steels for welded metal structures of critical importance;
- The concept of building and extending structures of the first mass series using steel frameworks;
- Technology to protect gas turbine engine parts from high-temperature gas erosion;
- Physical materials science of construction steels and building materials;
- Nanotechnologies and nanomaterials.
Over the past 10 years, 29 monographs, nearly 600 scientific articles have been published; 47 patents have been obtained. In total, 20 Doctors of Sciences and 24 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Improving the Efficiency of Construction and Road Machinery Operations and Their Support”
Founder: Leonid Andriiovych Khmara, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Full Member of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, Honored Inventor of Ukraine, member of the Presidium of the International Association for Ecology, Mechanization, and Automation of Earthmoving Works in Human Activities (MAZR), Professor at the Department of Construction and Road Machinery. Research Areas:
Energy-efficient earthmoving and manipulation tools for hoisting and transport, construction, and road machinery;
Theory of earthmoving machinery processes with combined-action intensifiers;
Scientific foundations for the development of machinery and equipment for emergency rescue and recovery operations in extreme conditions caused by natural disasters;
Technical solutions for construction machinery with potential energy accumulators;
Development of high-efficiency working tools, selection, and support for construction and road machinery.
Over the past 10 years, 7 monographs, 36 books, and 7 textbooks and educational manuals have been published; 600 scientific articles have been written; more than 45 patents have been obtained. Four Doctors of Technical Sciences and 28 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Research on Construction Properties of Soils, Calculation of Foundations under Static and Dynamic Loads, and Development of New Foundation Types”
Founder: Viktor Borysovych Shvets, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist and Technician of the Ukrainian SSR, Full Member of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Foundations and Foundations (1974-2008).
Research Areas:
- Development of methodologies for soil research, calculation methods, design, and construction of foundations in complex engineering and geological conditions; New foundation designs under static and dynamic loads; Scientific support for geotechnical monitoring.
Over the past 10 years, 19 monographs and over 360 scientific papers have been published. Eight Doctors of Technical Sciences and 60 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Building Materials and Products”
Founder: Hennadii Danylovych Dibrova, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Head of the Department of Concrete and Binders (1971-1985).
Research Areas:
Composition, structure, and properties of building materials;
Nanotechnologies and nanomaterials;
Use of secondary products from various industries for the development of new efficient building materials.
Over the past 10 years, 3 monographs, 1 textbook, and 1 educational manual have been published; 90 scientific articles have been written; 20 patents have been obtained. Six Doctors of Technical Sciences and 44 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Structural Mechanics and Mechanics of Deformable Solids”
Founder: Oleksandr Pavlovych Prusakov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Higher Education of Ukraine, Full Member of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, Honorary Professor of SEI PSACEA, Head of the Department of Resistance of Materials (1960-1987).
Research Areas:
- Numerical and experimental studies of deformation and stability of thin-walled structures under non-uniform stress-strain conditions;
- Problems of biomechanics of osteosynthesis and joint endoprosthetics;
- Mechanical characteristics of non-uniform materials and structures;
- Dynamic properties of nonlinear structures and materials;
- Artificial intelligence methods for the rational design of buildings and structures;
- Calculation of structures under conditions of incomplete information about initial data;
- Calculation of reinforced concrete structures, considering long-term processes such as shrinkage, creep, and vibratory creep of concrete.
Over the past 10 years, 8 monographs and 5 educational manuals have been published; 96 scientific articles (70 in publications recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and 26 in foreign journals indexed by Scopus and WoS) have been written. Nine Doctors of Technical Sciences and 59 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Organization and Planning of Construction and Reconstruction”
Founder: Revo Borysovych Tian, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Full Member of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, the International Engineering Academy, and the Academy of Non-Traditional Technologies of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Planning and Organization of Production (1977-2003).
Research Areas:
- Organizational and technical preparation for the construction and reconstruction of buildings and structures.
Over the past 10 years, 8 monographs and 199 scientific and educational-methodological works have been published, including 68 scientific articles; 10 patents have been obtained. Three Doctors of Technical Sciences and 26 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Safety of Objects in Emergencies and Labor Protection in Various Spheres of Human Activity”
Founder: Anatolii Serafymovych Bielikov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Life Safety, Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine, Full Member of the International Academy of Sciences of Ecology and Life Safety, the International Academy of Non- Traditional Technologies, the International Academy of Life Safety, the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the International Engineering Academy, member of the sectoral expert council of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, judicial expert of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
Research Areas:
Assessment of fire hazards and the consequences of fires in buildings and structures;
Reduction of flammability and increase in fire resistance of building structures through the application of fire-resistant coatings;
- Improvement of the radiation quality of residential buildings and methods to achieve it;
- Safety during special construction work for high-rise installers;
- Increasing safety during rescue operations in extreme conditions;
- Assessment of life safety in extreme conditions (fires, accidents, natural disasters);
- Prevention of injuries and occupational diseases in production environments;
- Life safety in conditions of negative impacts (noise, radiation, infrared radiation);
- Risk assessment and development of effective measures in radiation hazard conditions at the former uranium production site “Radon”;
- Conducting forensic technical examinations in emergencies at facilities;
- Development of scientific foundations to improve safety in extended structures during the spread of shock airwaves;
- Enhancing safety during the removal of building collapse consequences.
Over the past 10 years, 9 monographs, 10 textbooks, and 5 educational manuals have been published; 210 scientific articles have been written; 32 patents have been obtained. Six Doctors of Technical Sciences and 62 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained.
Scientific School “Creative Economy, Green Construction, and Regional Development in the Global Economic System”
Founder: Yuliia Valeriivna Orlovska, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of International Economics and Public Administration, member of the Ukrainian Union of International Economists; academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine, corresponding member of the International Engineering Academy, honored worker of education of Ukraine.
Research Areas:
- Establishment of a post-industrial creative global economy; Issues related to the development of the creative function of global cities;
- Megacities as centers for the creative economy;
- Intellectualization of the global economy;
- Functioning of circular and low-carbon economies in the world and in Ukraine;
- Development of the construction sector and clusters of green construction in regions of Ukraine;
- The green construction economy in the EU and Ukraine;
- Sustainable development of socio-ecological-economic systems in regions of Ukraine amid globalization and European integration;
- Environmental factors of international competitiveness of EU countries;

Over the past 10 years, 22 monographs (including 3 authored), 5 textbooks, 8 scientific articles in Scopus and Web of Science indexed publications, and more than 150 articles in professional publications in Ukraine have been published. In total, 2 Doctors of Technical Sciences and 12 Candidates of Economic Sciences have been trained..
Scientific Schools of SEI USUCT
Scientific School “Theory of Electrochemical Processes in Electrodeposition of Metals Considering the Structure and Composition of the Pre-Electrode Zone” founded in 1948 by Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor M.O. Loshkarov. The current head of the school is Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor F.Y. Danilov.
Main Research Areas: Studying fundamental and applied aspects of the influence of adsorption phenomena on electrochemical kinetics and establishing the scientific foundations for modern high-intensity electrochemical technologies for obtaining products with predetermined properties.
The results obtained are implemented in galvanotechnology, ecology, and energy.
Over the course of research, 11 doctoral and 111 candidate dissertations have been defended; more than 1000 scientific articles have been published; 10 monographs have been issued. The developments are protected by 160 author certificates and patents and included in domestic standards.
Scientific School “Scientific Foundations for the Synthesis and Reactivity of Nitrogen- and Sulfur-Containing Organic Bioregulators” founded in 1952 by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor O.Ye. Kretov. The current head of the school is Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor V.I.Markov.
Main Research Areas: Developing scientific foundations for the synthesis and reactivity of N- and S-heterocycles to obtain compounds with predictable properties.
The results obtained are implemented in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and experimental biology.
Over the course of research, 13 doctoral and 103 candidate dissertations have been defended; more than 1050 scientific works have been published; over 150 author certificates and patents have been obtained, 3 of which have been sold under licensing agreements; 7 monographs have been published.
Scientific School “Electrochemistry and Its Applications in Various Fields” founded in 1953 by Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor
V.V. Stender. For many years, the school was headed by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor O.S. Ksenzhik. The current head of the school is Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor M.D. Koshel.
Main Research Areas: Studying electrochemical processes in biological objects; Developing and researching lithium power sources; Improving the characteristics of traditional batteries; Investigating mass transfer processes in liquid and solid electrolytes and modeling the macrokinetics of processes in electrochemical systems.
The results obtained are implemented in chemical technology, chemical power sources, space research, and biotechnology.
Over the course of research, 10 doctoral and 38 candidate dissertations have been defended; more than 750 scientific works have been published. More than 50 author certificates and patents have been obtained. Nine textbooks and 6 monographs have been issued.
Scientific School “Synthesis and Study of Properties of Organic, Polymer, and Composite Materials” founded in 1955 by Doctor of Chemical Sciences N.K. Moshynska. The current head of the school is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor K.M. Sukhy.
Main Research Areas: Synthesis of monomers, polymers, and their analogs with predetermined properties, and creation of composite materials based on them as high-efficiency prospective materials for multifunctional purposes and a basis for developing new technologies for creating electrochemical devices, etc.
Over the course of research, 8 doctoral and 53 candidate dissertations have been defended; more than 1250 scientific works have been published. The developments are protected by 160 author certificates and patents. Fifty monographs, textbooks, and educational manuals have been issued.
Scientific School on Chemistry and Technology of New Enamels, Glasses, Ceramics, and Other Silicate Materials founded in 1960 by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor H.I. Belyaev. For many years, the school was led by Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Ya.I. Bilyi. The current head of the school is Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V.I. Holeus.
Main Research Areas: Creating scientific foundations for the technology of producing new types of heat-resistant non-metallic and silicate materials, specifically the development of glass coatings for multifunctional purposes (electrical insulation, chemical resistance); glass and glass-ceramic solid electrolytes for lithium and lithium-ion chemical power sources; glass-ceramic materials that operate in extreme conditions (thermal stability, dielectric properties, wear resistance); low-melting glasses and composite materials for bonding with ceramics and metals; powdered glass paints for hot decoration of products made of glass; ceramic pigments (including those based on secondary raw materials) in a wide color range; ceramic masses for producing construction and sanitary-technical products based on Ukraine’s raw material deposits; coatings (engobes, glazes) for ceramic products intended for construction and sanitary-technical purposes.
The results obtained are implemented in the production of enterprises that manufacture glass, enamel, and ceramic products.
Over the course of research, 12 doctoral and 57 candidate dissertations have been defended; more than 600 scientific works have been published, and over 200 author certificates and patents have been obtained.
