VII Scientific and Practical Conference at USUST ‘Intellectual Property and the Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Ukraine’
On 1–2 December, the SEI ‘PSACEA’ of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the VII Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists ‘Intellectual property and the promotion of energy efficiency in Ukraine: challenges and development prospects in the information society’. The event was held online via the TEAMS platform and gathered participants from various faculties of the institute, as well as students and PhD candidates from the State University of Trade and Economics (Kyiv) and Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University.
The plenary session was opened by Halyna Yevsieieva, Vice-Rector for Academic, Student and Humanitarian Affairs of USUST. She emphasized that in wartime the role of such conferences is becoming even more important, as young researchers with innovative thinking will form the foundation for Ukraine’s reconstruction — based on the principles of energy efficiency, creativity, and professionalism.
Vladyslav Danishevskyi, director of the SEI ‘PSACEA’ paid attention to the interdisciplinary nature of the university and the opportunities it creates for the development of innovation. He also announced the launch of the Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) at USUST, aimed at helping researchers with intellectual property issues, commercialization of developments, and cooperation among stakeholders of the innovation ecosystem.
The conference moderator, head of the editorial board, and Acting Head of the TISC Center at USUST, Valentyna Babenko, emphasized the importance of integrating research in the field of intellectual property with energy efficiency topics for Ukraine’s future reconstruction.
The report by Yevhen Yurchenko, head of the Dnipro Energy Innovation Hub and Associate Professor of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures was among the key presentations. He focused on practical approaches to advancing energy efficiency and highlighted the role of USUST in implementing innovative solutions.
Young researchers presented different issues – from intellectual property protection in the construction and architecture sectors during wartime to analyses of energy-saving technologies and the legal aspects of their implementation.
The discussion involved leading lecturers and researchers from the SEI ‘PSACEA’, USUST, the Energy Innovation Hub, and the UDID department. They provided participants with valuable recommendations and supported the further development of their research.
The conference once again demonstrated that the university’s young researchers are actively contributing to building an innovative and energy-efficient Ukraine, while the USUST platform offers them opportunities to grow, collaborate, and put their ideas into practice.
