USUST welcomes delegation from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship (Poland)

On February 24, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies welcomed a delegation from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship of the Republic of Poland, headed by Marshal Paweł Gancarz. The delegation included Damian Stawikowski, President of the Management Board of Lower Silesian Railways; Andrzej Dycha, President of the Management Board of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency; as well as representatives of the Voivodeship authorities and the Lower Silesian Agency for Regional Development, including business representatives from the medical and technology sectors. The visit was initiated by Lower Silesian Railways (KD – Koleje Dolnośląskie) and the Regional Center for Development and Education (RCRiE), with the support of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration,  the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, and the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
 
The guests were warmly welcomed by the Rector of USUST, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi. The meeting was also attended by the members of the University’s leadership, researchers, and experts in the fields of transport and infrastructure. Following the official exchange of greetings, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation between the University, the authorities of Lower Silesia, and Polish sectoral institutions.
 
The delegation got acquainted with the scientific and educational potential of USUST, visited the state-of-the-art laboratories of the SEI ‘Dnipro Institute of Infrastructure and Transport’, and explored innovative developments in the field of railway transport, including digital modeling of infrastructure facilities, traffic safety systems, and energy-efficient technologies. Particular attention was given to the university’s experience of cooperation with the Prydniprovska Railway during martial law, specifically in ensuring track safety and restoring damaged infrastructure facilities.
 
President of the Management Board of Lower Silesian Railways, Damian Stawikowski and USUST researchers discussed the opportunities of long-term partnership in the development of railway infrastructure, modernization of rolling stock, implementation of European safety standards, and joint research projects. The participants also discussed prospects for academic mobility, internships for students and academic staff, as well as the development of joint educational programs. Particular attention was given to cooperation with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, including the attraction of investment into research and development, support for innovative start-ups, and the university’s integration into European industrial and research clusters.
 
Prior to the visit, the delegation also took part in the official opening ceremony of the Lower Silesian–Dnipropetrovsk Economic Center (DDCG), established at the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The center is intended to provide systematic support for Ukrainian–Polish economic cooperation and to coordinate joint projects in the fields of transport, infrastructure, industry, and education.
The visit of the Polish delegation is an important step in strengthening USUST’s international cooperation. It confirmed the shared commitment to collaboration in the fields of research, education, and infrastructure, and laid the foundation for the university’s long-term strategic initiatives at the international level.
