USUST united young researchers at the International Conference ‘Chemistry and Modern Technologies’

From May 20 to 22, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the 12th International Scientific and Practical Online Conference for Students and Young Researchers ‘Chemistry and Modern Technologies’. The event has become a platform for scientific dialogue, exchange of  research findings, innovative ideas, and professional discussions in the fields of chemistry, materials science, environmental studies, technology, and interdisciplinary research.
 
Young researchers, doctoral candidates, students, and academic staff from across Ukraine and international educational and research institutions took part in the conference. The conference proceedings featured contributions from participants representing Moldova, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, and Spain, as well as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Odesa, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia, Kamianske, Uzhhorod, and others.
 
Opening the conference, Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, emphasized the importance of scientific events that provide a platform for professional communication, knowledge exchange, and the advancement of modern research approaches, even in conditions of wartime.
 
The participants were also welcomed by Professor Olha Sverdlikovska, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, director of the SEI ‘USUCT’,  who highlighted the high quality of the research presented, the active engagement of young researchers, and the importance of supporting the next generation of researchers.
The plenary session brought together representatives of academia, education, and innovative business. Presentations were delivered by:
  • Valerii Demchenko, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Senior Researcher and Lead Research Scientist at the Department of Plastics Welding, E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
  • Bohdan Tochka, co-founder and head of Communications at MOVA Brewing Co.;
  • Margarita Skyba, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Inorganic Substances  and Ecology;
  • Oleh Kalinichenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Fuel, Polymer and Printing Materials Technologies;
  • Oleksandra Amelina, Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass and Biomedical Materials, Senior Researcher;
  • Hanna Khodorenko, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Translation Studies at Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Professor at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR, Spain).

The conference featured 13 thematic sections dedicated to key areas of modern science and technology. Special attention was given to the Junior Academy of Sciences section, which provided an important platform for supporting young researchers and fostering their first scientific initiatives.

A distinctive feature of this year’s conference was its successful integration of fundamental research with practical case studies from modern industry, technology entrepreneurship, and international academic collaboration. The  participants explored a broad range of topics, including environmental sustainability, advanced materials, polymer technologies, innovative approaches to raw material processing, biomedical materials, the digital transformation of science, and the development of high-tech manufacturing.
 
The conference once again demonstrated that the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies is one of Ukraine’s leading educational and research institutions, which supports young researchers, strengthen international academic cooperation, and contribute to the advancement of innovative technologies.
