USUST team completes training under the academic managers development program

The team of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies has completed its participation in the Professional Development Program for Academic Managers, a large-scale educational initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine implemented with the support of the World Bank and the British Council.

The final, fourth module of the program  ‘Finance, projects, resources’ held from March 3 to 6, 2026, at the Dnipro University of Technology, focused on the key aspects of financial and project management in universities.
On the first day  the participants worked on understanding current trends in the development of academic management and the role of financial policy in the transformation of higher education institutions. The discussions covered educational policy, strategic approaches to resource management, and the challenges faced by universities in current conditions.

The following sessions focused on practical tools for raising resources. In particular, they addressed international projects and grant activities, the organization of project offices, and mechanisms for the commercialization of research results. The participants reviewed real cases of university-business cooperation and discussed opportunities for developing partnerships.
A separate block was devoted to modern management approaches, including risk management, crisis response, data-driven decision-making, and the digitalization of financial processes. During the networking sessions, participants had the opportunity to exchange experience and establish professional contacts.

The final day included team work on practical tasks, during which the participants applied the knowledge they had gained to solving management case studies. The summary session made it possible to consolidate the approaches developed during the module and identify opportunities for their implementation in university activities.
Overall, the program consisted of four training modules dedicated to the role of the university in social transformations, strategic planning under conditions of uncertainty, personnel management, as well as finance, resources, and projects. It is aimed at developing the managerial competencies of academic leaders and strengthening the institutional capacity of higher education institutions in Ukraine.

Participation in the program enabled USUST representatives to deepen their knowledge in the field of modern university management, get acquainted with best management practices, and develop tools for the university’s further growth.

The completion of the fourth module became an important stage in the preparation of academic managers capable of effectively responding to current challenges and implementing change in higher education.

The participants note that the program became not only a learning experience, but also a platform for professional dialogue, cooperation, and the development of new management solutions.
