USUST team – a silver medallist of the futsal tournament

On June 7, 2025, the 9th futsal tournament organised by the Council of Young Scientists of Dnipro Region took place at the Olympic Reserves Stadium in Dnipro. The team of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies has confirmed its athletic power and strength once again and won the honourable second place in a a fierce struggle, leaving behind strong rivals.

In the preliminary matches, the USUST team defeated their opponents from the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs with a score of 4:2, and in the decisive match they faced the players from the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University. Despite its high pace and fighting spirit, the final ended with a minimal defeat – 2:3, which brought our team the silver medal of the tournament.

This is not the first triumph of the university team: in 2021 and 2024, our athletes have already lifted the winners’ cup. This year, the USUST team was recognized for its cohesion, fighting spirit and organisational approach to the game by the organisers.

Special words of admiration go to the team captain Taras Dutko, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education, Paralympic Champion of 2016, who not only coordinated the game but also received the title of ‘Best Defender of the Tournament’.

Mykola Kalymbet, a chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of USUST SEI ‘DIIT’, SEI ‘DMI’ along with a deputy chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Dnipro Region provided the team organisation and referee assistance.
