USUST teaching staff at the International IWA Conference in Norway

The representatives of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies – Ihor Kovalenko, Roman Smotraiev, and Kateryna Sorochkina (Department of Inorganic Substances Technology and Ecology, SEI ‘University of Chemical Technology’, USUST) took part in the 14th International Conference on Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA2025), organized by the International Water Association (IWA). The event was held from June 29 to July 2, 2025, in Oslo, Norway.

 

The conference brought together scientists and professionals from the global water sector. Key topics included energy efficiency in water utilities, digital transformation, the use of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, risk management, and digital twins. The participants had the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technologies for monitoring, purification, and water resource management.

 

The USUST teaching staff also visited VEAS – Norway’s largest underground wastewater treatment plant, which serves over 700,000 residents in the region of Oslo and is a model of an integrated approach to treatment, resource conservation, and sustainable development.

 

This participation was enabled by the international DIGISKILLS project of the Erasmus+ program, aimed at developing digital competencies in the field of water education.
