USUST students win medals at the Ukrainian WTF Taekwondo Championship

Students of the educational and scientific institute ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport’ of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies won medals at the Ukrainian WTF Taekwondo Championship.

 

The competition took place on April 24–26, 2026, in Lviv where around 1,200 athletes from different regions of Ukraine were engaged. The participants represented children and youth sports schools, specialized sports institutions, and schools of higher sports mastery. The tournament was held in two disciplines – kyorugi (sparring) and poomsae (technical patterns)  in various age categories, ranging from younger juniors to adult athletes.

 

As part of the USUST team, students of the SEI ‘PSAPCS’ demonstrated a high level of training and athletic skill.

 

Anastasiia Tereshchenko, a second-year student of group FKS/0174-24-2B, won the silver medal in the women’s under 57 kg weight category. Mariia Dumina, a fourth-year student of group FV/0174-22-4B, earned the bronze medal in the women’s under 67 kg weight category.

The athletes’ coach is Pavlo Pshenichnikov, an academy graduate who continues to develop the institution’s sporting traditions and train medalists for national competitions.

 

The performance of the USUST students at the championship once again demonstrated the high level of taekwondo development at the university and the effectiveness of training specialists in the field of physical culture and sports.
