USUST students win medals at the European Cossack Combat Championship

From May 8 to 10, 2026, the European Cossack Combat Championship was held in Podčetrtek, Slovenia. Cossack combat is a form of mixed martial arts that combines striking techniques with punches and kicks, as well as wrestling elements, including grips, throws, and submission holds.

 

The championship was organized by the World Cossack Fight Federation (WCFF) and the World Martial Arts Committee (WMAC). Around 1,300 athletes from 17 European countries  took part in the tournament. Ukraine’s national team demonstrated an outstanding level of preparation and confidently secured first place in the overall team ranking, ahead of the national teams of the Czech Republic and Germany.

 

In total, the Ukrainian team won 93 gold, 88 silver, and 80 bronze medals, confirming its strong position on the European martial arts stage.

As members of Ukraine’s national team representing the Dnipropetrovsk Region, USUST students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the SEI ‘PSAPCS’ successfully competed and became medalists of the championship:

 

Stanislav Tymchenko, Master of Sports of Ukraine of International Class (1st-year student, group FCS/A7-25-1M) – 1st place in the up to 75 kg weight category among athletes aged 19+ in the Wrestling division;

 

Viacheslav Tymchenko, Master of Sports of Ukraine (3rd-year student, group FCS/017-23-2B) – 2nd place in the up to 70 kg weight category among athletes aged 19+ in the MMA Full division.

We sincerely congratulate our athletes on their outstanding results and wish them new victories, confidence in their abilities, and further sporting achievements.

 

We also congratulate Ukraine’s national team on its successful performance on the international stage and extend our appreciation to the coaches for their professionalism and high-quality preparation of the athletes.

The performance of Ukraine’s national team at the European Cossack Combat Championship in Slovenia confirmed the high level of training, determination, and professionalism of Ukrainian athletes. The large number of medals won and the team’s first-place overall finish demonstrate the successful development of Cossack combat in Ukraine, as well as the effective work of coaches and sports clubs. It is particularly gratifying that USUST students also made a significant contribution to the team’s overall success. The achievements of Ukrainian athletes are an example of resilience, patriotism, and the pursuit of new victories on the international stage.
