USUST students win bronze at the Ukrainian Sambo Championship
On April 17–18, 2026, the Ukrainian Sambo Championship among students of higher education institutions took place in the city of Dnipro. It united leading student-athletes from different regions of the country. Over 100 participants took part in the competition representing 17 university teams from Ukrainian universities.
Students of the SEI ‘PSAPCS’ represented the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies at the event. As a result of the tournament, a notable achievement was secured by first-year student Yevhenii Kucher, a Master of Sports of Ukraine (group FV/A4-25-1B), who won a bronze medal in the +98 kg weight category.
First-year student Bohdan Khomenko, Candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine (group FCS/A7-25-2B), demonstrated confident performance and placed 7th–9th in the under 79 kg weight category.
This championship is a platform for intense competition and the exchange of experience among the strongest student sambo athletes in Ukraine. The participants showed a high level of technical proficiency, endurance, and true sporting character, which demonstrates the steady development of student sport in the country.
We congratulate Yevhenii Kucher and Bohdan Khomenko on their worthy results, as well as their coaches, who prepare athletes to represent the university at the national level. We wish them new victories and further sporting achievements!
