USUST students win at the 2025 Summer Nuclear School

From July 1 to 11, 2025, the IXth Summer Nuclear School ‘Youth and the Future of Nuclear Energy’ was held at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant in the satellite city of Varash. This large-scale scientific and educational event brought together over 50 students and faculty members from across Ukraine. The participants included representatives from technical universities that train specialists for the nuclear energy sector. The school was organized by the executive directorate for personnel of JSC ‘NAEK Energoatom’, the “VP RAES” branch, and the NGO ‘Ukrainian Nuclear Society’.
 
The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies was represented by:
  • Veli Osmanovich Bekirov and Varvara Serhiivna Safronova – students of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’;
  • Vitalii Anatoliiovych Zahilskyi and Vladyslav Valeriiovych Kovba – associate professors of the Department of Engineering Geology and Geotechnics, candidates of technical sciences.
The program of the Summer Nuclear School was intensive and diverse, featuring lectures by leading industry experts, tours of key facilities at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, roundtable discussions, workshops, tactical medicine training, a scientific conference, and a student research competition.
 
The representatives from the country’s top universities presented strong and relevant scientific projects in the competition, and Veli Osmanovich Bekirov, a student from USUST won the competition! His work was highly praised by the expert panel, and his victory was honored with a certificate of recognition and a cash prize from JSC ‘NAEK Energoatom’.
 
This achievement is not only a personal triumph for Veli but also a significant testament to the hard work of the department, mentors, and the whole academic community.
