USUST Students Excel at the “Human and Space” Conference

From April 24 to 26, 2025, the city of Dnipro hosted the XXVII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Human and Space” at the O.M. Makarov National Center for Aerospace Education of Youth. Held under the motto “University Science for the Rocket and Space Industry”, this year’s event brought together nearly 150 participants from cities across Ukraine — including Dnipro, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Uzhhorod, and Kamianske.

For the first time, students and postgraduate researchers from the SEI Aerospace Institute and the SEI Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology of USUST participated in 19 specialized thematic sections of the conference.

Among the winners was Yurii Minakov, a student of group 3-TVV-42, supervised by Professor Yurii Mitikov. His presentation explored the potential of replacing liquid oxygen with hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer in rocket engines. His research was supported by Dmytro Kosykh, a leading expert from the Ukrainian-Scottish company Skyrora Ltd.

Another award was claimed by Yuliana Suvorova, a postgraduate of the Department of Polymer, Fuel, and Chemical Substances Technology, under the supervision of Professor Kostiantyn Varlan. Her research focused on the development of a domestic component base for high-energy and protective materials for special purposes.

USUST faculty members also contributed to organizing the event: Professors Yurii Mitikov and Kostiantyn Varlan, and Associate Professor Vitalii Vorobiov served as coordinators of three thematic sections.

USUST continues to make its mark in the academic and scientific community, addressing urgent challenges and advancing research in the aerospace sector. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students, postgraduates, and faculty!
