USUST students design a social space project in collaboration with the City Center For Social Assistance
The students at the Faculty of Architecture of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’ of USUST, gain practical experience by participating in real-world projects. This time, the initiative came from the City Center for Social Assistance, which proposed a collaboration on the design of a learning space for children with autism.
The students of the Department of Architectural Environment Design, under the supervision of senior lecturer Tetiana Suvorova, took part in developing the design concepts.
Oleksandr Polyakov, Oleksandra Bondarenko, Nataliia Davydova, and Viacheslav Datsenko presented four original design proposals with models and visualizations.

All of the projects incorporate inclusive design principles, spatial adaptation for various forms of learning, as well as functionality, comfort, and ergonomics. The students analyzed the space and offered comprehensive solutions for zoning, lighting, color schemes, furniture placement, ventilation, and the selection of safe finishing materials.
The results demonstrated not only solid theoretical knowledge, but also a deep understanding of the social role of an architect. This type of learning experience creates a dual impact: it provides tangible benefits for the community while offering students valuable hands-on experience.
In this way, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies applies a modern approach to professional training, integrating socially meaningful, real-world practice into the educational process.
