USUST students at the 2025 Summer World University Games
From July 16 to 28, 2025, Germany hosted the XXXII Summer World University Games – one of the largest global student sporting events, bringing together over 9,000 athletes from more than 100 countries. This year, the competitions took place across five cities in the Rhine-Ruhr region: Bochum, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, and Mülheim an der Ruhr.
The Ukrainian student national team included 114 athletes from 48 higher education institutions, with the representatives of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
Danіela Chebatarova, a student of the Department of Gymnastics at the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports’ of USUST, competed as a member of Ukraine’s rhythmic gymnastics team. Performing in the group routine with 3 balls and 2 hoops, the team presented an expressive performance to the soundtrack from The Mask of Zorro, which received the highest score and secured the gold medal.
Danіela shared her emotions right after the performance:
“When we saw the result, we were all in shock – we just couldn’t believe it. We won gold!”

In addition, the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnastics team earned silver medals in the group routine with 5 ribbons and in the all-around event, claiming the second place overall in rhythmic gymnastics at the University Games.
Another proud representative of our university, Aliona Chass, a student of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’ of USUST, competed in the women’s triple jump event. Her best attempt – 12.88 meters – placed her 13th in the overall standings, a commendable result in a highly competitive international field.
Overall, Ukraine’s team concluded the University Games ranked 14th in the medal standings, winning 12 medals: 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
