USUST student has won a silver medal in the European para-rowing championship

Roman Polyanskyi, a second-year student at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies and an Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, achieved a remarkable result in the European Para-Rowing Championship held from May 29 to June 1, 2025, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

 

In the men’s PR1 single sculls final, Roman finished second, narrowly behind the reigning Paralympic champion Benjamin Pritchard from Great Britain. Italian athlete Giacomo Perini took third place. In a highly competitive race, Roman earned the silver medal at the continental championship.

 

The Plovdiv competition demonstrated the start of a new international season, featuring 198 crews from 32 countries, including 30 para-athletes representing 11 European nations. The Ukrainian national team included six athletes, ultimately winning four medals — one gold, two silver, and one bronze — ranking first in total medals won among European teams.
