USUST student conference on the development and challenges of Non-Olympic Sports

On April 10, 2026, the SEI  Prydniprovska State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted online the XII All-Ukrainian Student Scientific and Methodological Conference ‘NON-OLYMPIC SPORT: history, management challenges, and the system of athlete training’.
 
The event was held under the motto ‘Student research is the future of the development of physical culture and sport in Ukraine’.
 
The conference participants were welcomed by:
  • Yurii Proidak, Professor, First Vice-Rector for Research at USUST
  • Nataliia Moskalenko, Professor, deputy director of the SEI ‘PSAPCS’
  • Volodymyr Prykhodko, Professor, head of the Department of Theory and Methods of Sports Training, SEI ‘PSAPCS’
  • Oleksandr Osypov, deputy director of the Department and head of the Sports Administration of the Department of Humanitarian Policy of the Dnipro City Council
  • Oleh Derliuk, director of the Dnipropetrovsk Professional College of Sports, Master of Sport of Ukraine, and President of the Powerlifting Federation of Dnipropetrovsk Region
  • Danylo Miro, International Master of Sport, medalist at the European and World Championships, Champion of Ukraine in judo, sambo, and belt wrestling. Adviser to the Minister of Youth and Sports.
The conference united students from 19 higher education institutions across Ukraine. Active participation was also demonstrated by the representatives of USUST, particularly from the SEI ‘PSAPCS’ and ‘PSACEA’.
 
 The participants delivered substantial and thought-provoking presentations devoted to:
 
  • historical aspects of the development of Non-Olympic sports in Ukraine and around the world, including floorball, orienteering, padel, karting, marine all-around, chessboxing, esports, and dance sport;
  • specific features of athlete training systems in Non-Olympic sports, such as taijiquan, esports, aesthetic group gymnastics, archery, non-Olympic canoe and kayak racing distances, ballroom dance sport, and karate;
  • the role of Non-Olympic sport in education, physical recreation, and rehabilitation.
The conference was held at a high academic and organizational level and proved to be an effective platform for professional communication among moderators, participants, academic supervisors, and attendees.
