USUST researchers join All-Ukrainian Conference on Patient-Specific Implants

On May 1, 2026, the First All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Patient-Specific Implants in Orthopedics and Traumatology: Science, Technologies, Practice’ was held in Kyiv. The conference brought together leading orthopedic traumatologists, engineers, and international experts in the field of patient-specific solutions.
 
The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies was represented at the conference by its leading researchers whose work focuses on the development of advanced biomedical technologies with practical significance for medicine.
The USUST delegation included:
  • Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Ovchynnykov, director of the SEI ‘Titan’, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and scientific supervisor of the research project ‘Resource-saving technology for processing Ukrainian rutile and ilmenite concentrates into innovative alloyed dual-use titanium sponge’ (funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine);
  • Volodymyr Serhiiovych Yefanov, deputy director of the SEI ‘Titan’, PhD;
  • Oleh Oleksandrovych Kalinichenko, Associate Professor, Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Fuel, Polymer and Printing Materials Technologies, Candidate of Technical Sciences. Scientific supervisor of the research project focused on the development and study of innovative bioactive implant systems for reconstructive surgery (funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine).
As part of the conference, USUST researchers presented the results of strategically important studies relevant to both civilian and military medicine in Ukraine. The discussions focused on the implementation of patient-specific implants in clinical practice, which is particularly important in the context of treating complex injuries.
The event fostered professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and the establishment of new research contacts between representatives of medicine and engineering.
