USUST postgraduate student Oleksandr Holota defends dissertation in transport technologies
On April 7, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the dissertation defense of Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Holota.
Following the public defense, the ad hoc specialized academic council decided to award him the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in field of knowledge 27 – Transport, specialty 275 – Transport Technologies.
The defense was held at the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’ of USUST as an open real-time defense of the dissertation research.
The dissertation topic was ‘Research on the operating modes of the track structure control system of a full-scale model of magnetic levitation transport’.
The academic supervisor was Andrii Mykolaiovych Mukha, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics.
The dissertation focuses on the study of operating modes of control systems for the track structure of magnetic levitation transport. The research combines theoretical approaches with practical aspects of analyzing the operation of high-speed ground transport systems, which is a relevant area in the development of modern transport infrastructure.
The ad hoc specialized academic council was chaired by Andrii Mykhailovych Afanasov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, head of the Department of Electric Rolling Stock of Railways at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
The official opponents were:
- Mykola Vasylovych Khvorost, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, head of the Department of Electric Transport at O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv;
- Dmytro Volodymyrovych Tsyplenkov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor at the Department of Electric Drive at ‘Dnipro University of Technology’.
The reviewers of the dissertation were:
- Dmytro Oleksiiovych Bosyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, head of the Department of Intelligent Power Supply Systems at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies;
- Oleksii Yuriiovych Baliichuk, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
Following the discussion, the research results were highly praised by all members of the ad hoc specialized academic council.
On April 29, 2026, during a meeting of the University Academic Council, the Rector of USUST, Professor Kostiantyn Mykhailovych Sukhyi, awarded Oleksandr Holota the diploma of the Doctor of Philosophy.
