USUST participates in Coordination Meeting of the UKRENERGY project consortium at the University of Genoa

From March 16 to 19, 2026, a coordination meeting of the partners of the international UKRENERGY project, implemented under the Erasmus+ CBHE programme, was held in Italy at the University of Genoa. The project is focused on developing innovative Master’s programmes that will help improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of Ukraine’s building stock by introducing advanced educational practices and European Union standards.

 

The delegation of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies included Rector of USUST, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, Yevhenii Yurchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures, head of Energy Innovation Hub, Olena Koval, Associate Professor of the same department, manger of the Hub, and Kateryna Sokolova, deputy head of the International Relations Office.

 

The meeting  was as an important platform for reviewing the project’s implementation over the period from April 2025 to March 2026, analysing the tasks completed, and coordinating further steps during the final stage of implementation through November 2026.

The partners discussed a wide range of key areas, from the introduction of the newly developed Master’s programmes and related educational activities to the procurement of modern equipment for training  laboratories at Ukrainian higher education institutions. Special attention was paid to quality assurance and project monitoring with the participation of the Monitoring and Evaluation Board, as well as to the analysis of the results of the first implementation cycle of each Master’s programme based on the data collected.

 

During the meeting, the participants also focused on budgetary and organizational planning, financial reporting, preparation for the final conference, and the further strategy for disseminating the project results among stakeholders.

 

The meeting once again demonstrated the importance of UKRENERGY as a European platform for coordinating joint solutions, strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian and European universities, and advancing modern education in the fields of energy efficiency and sustainable construction.

For USUST the participation in the project is an important part of its efforts to modernize academic programmes, expand international partnership, and train specialists capable of responding to today’s challenges and labour market demands in the context of the energy transition.
