USUST Joins “Debate Spring 2025”

On May 1, 2025, the city-wide intellectual tournament “Debate Spring 2025” was held at the Municipally Funded” Educational Complex № 136” of the Dnipro City Council. The tournament brought together teams of high school students from Municipally Funded “Educational Complex № 136” and Lyceum № 111.

The topic of the debate — “Can genetically modified foods save humanity?” — sparked lively discussion and served as the basis for in-depth, well-argued exchanges. The tournament followed the classical debate format: teams defended “for” and “against” positions, delivered convincing speeches, and practiced the art of public dialogue.

The panel of judges included representatives from Dnipro’s leading universities

Dnipro University of Technology, the University of Customs and Finance, and faculty members of Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. USUST was represented by associate professors from the Department of Fuel, Polymer, and Printing Materials Technologies at the SEI USUCT: Vitalii Holovenko, Kateryna Roienko ta Oleh Kalinichenko.

The participation of our faculty in such events is not only a form of support for school youth, but also an opportunity to build lasting connections with a prospective student audience — young people who may soon become part of the USUST community.

We sincerely thank the tournament organizers for their initiative, and the participants — for their genuine interest in today’s critical issues.
