USUST hosts Horizon Europe ‘Information Day’

On April 9, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted an information day dedicated to the EU framework programme ‘Horizon Europe’. The event, titled ‘Current Calls and Partnerships in Project Proposal’, was held at the educational and scientific institute ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’. The event was organized with the participation of National Contact Points for the Horizon Europe programme in the thematic areas of ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility’ and ‘Digitalisation, Industry and Space’. It took place in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance with broad online participation.

 

The participants were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Yurii Proidak, and Nataliia Didenko, senior researcher, deputy head of the ‘Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine’ at the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.

A keynote presentation on the ‘Horizon Europe’ work programme for 2026–2027 and current calls under Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy and Mobility) was delivered by Professor Vladyslav Danishevskyy, director of the SEI ‘ PSACEA’  and head of the respective National Contact Point.

 

Insights on building consortia and preparing grant applications for the autumn 2026 calls were provided by Associate Professor Vasyl Namoniuk of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, head of the National Contact Point for ‘Digitalisation, Industry and Space’.

 

Practical aspects of participation in the programme were further addressed by Associate Professor Maryna Babenko, researcher at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and trainee at the European Commission, who presented how to work on  the European Commission’s Funding and Tenders Portal.

The university’s success stories within ‘Horizon Europe’ programme, including the ENERGENIUS project, were highlighted by Associate Professor Anton Smyrnov.

 

The participants received up-to-date information on the opportunities offered by ‘Horizon Europe’, discussed mechanisms for finding international partners, and explored strategies for preparing competitive project proposals. Engagement in such calls opens new prospects for the university, from attracting research funding to strengthening international collaboration and advancing integration into the European research area.
