USUST hosts a round table on Ukraine’s participation in the Horizon Europe Programme
On 11 December 2025, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted a round table ‘Ukraine’s Participation in the Horizon Europe Programme: Opportunities and Successful Cases’, which was held in a hybrid format.
The event was organized by the team the National Contact Point for ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility’of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. The round table brought together representatives of business, local self-government authorities, public, and education institutions.
The purpose of the event was to discuss the practical experience of Ukrainian partners participating in Horizon Europe projects, present successful cases of cooperation between business, universities, and communities, and identify new opportunities for cooperation and initiating of joint project initiatives.
As part of the round table, a panel discussion was held with the participation of the representatives of leading Ukrainian enterprises and institutions, including Chief Executive Officers of DNIPROMETYZ TAS LLC, TAS DNIPROVAGONMASH LLC, Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant JSC, DETAIL VAGON GROUP Corporation; the Vice President of the Dnipropetrovsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry; representatives of Ukrainian Railways JSC; the Dnipro City Council; and the Diia.Business Entrepreneur Support Center in Dnipro.
USUST Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi and the representatives of local self-government authorities welcomed the participants. The round table programme featured the following presentations:
- Vladyslav Danishevskyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Director of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’, and Head of the National Contact Point for Climate, Energy and Mobility, outlined the key opportunities of the Horizon Europe Programme for Ukrainian participants, its priority areas, statistics on the participation of Ukrainian organizations, and successful project implementation cases in the fields of climate, energy, and mobility.
- Viktoriia Sokolova, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs at Alfred Nobel University and Director of the Business Entrepreneur Support Center in Dnipro, talked about new opportunities in the national Diia.Business project and the work of the Dnipro Entrepreneur Support Center as a tool for business development, digital transformation, and engagement of companies in national and international support programmes.
- Denys Volchok, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Operation and Maintenance of Machines, presented a report on the development of cooperation between universities and business within the Horizon Europe Programme, using the successful international EffectFact project as an example that combines scientific research with practical industrial applications.
- Oleksandr Zhadanos, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Academician M. I. Hasyk Department of Electrometallurgy, presented how business, universities, and communities can effectively cooperate within Horizon Europe (Cluster 5) by shaping projects around shared values of green transformation, climate neutrality, and sustainable development.
This event at USUST has confirmed the strong interest of business, universities, and local self-government authorities in Ukraine’s participation in the Horizon Europe Programme as an effective instrument for innovation-driven development, green transformation, and post-war recovery. The successful cases discussed demonstrated the real potential of cross-sectoral cooperation, where scientific research is combined with the practical needs of the economy and local communities. The event promoted new partnerships prospects, the development of a shared vision of priorities, and the steps for further cooperation, strengthening USUST’s role as an active platform for Ukraine’s integration into the European research and innovation space.
