USUST held the fourth Ttraining session of the Grant Writing School

On 2 December 2025, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the fourth training session of the Grant Writing School. The event was organized by the team of the National Contact Point ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility’at USUST, with the support of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.

 

The participants focused on the preparation and submission of project proposals for Horizon Europe calls. More than 70 researchers, lecturers, PhD students, scholars, and administrators took part in the training, some attended in person, while others joined online via Zoom.

 

At the beginning of the event, the participants were welcomed by Prof. Vladyslav Danishevskyy, Doctor of Technical Sciences, director of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’, and head of the National Contact Point.

 

He emphasized that Ukrainian universities play an important role in international research programmes and are fully capable of competing within European project frameworks.

 

During the training, experts shared practical recommendations and tools that help prepare a competitive project proposal:

 

– Kateryna Sokolova, Associate Professor, deputy head of the International Relations Department, presented the structure of a Horizon Europe proposal and the key requirements for its preparation.

– Olha Kurykina, PhD in Economics, senior specialist of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine at the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, outlined the principles of budget planning and common financial mistakes.

–  Anna Serdinova, PhD in Economics, leading specialist of the Center for International Education and Cooperation and EIT trainee, highlighted the importance of effective communication in international projects.

– Denys Volchok, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, and head of the Department of Machine Operation and Repair, presented USUST’s successful cases within the Horizon Europe programme and opportunities for accessing the infrastructure of European research centers.

 

The training concluded with a Q&A session, where the participants could get professional guidance on their own project ideas. The event became another step toward expanding the participation of Ukrainian researchers in European scientific programmes.
