USUST held International Scientific and Technical Conference ITMM 2026
On April 22, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the International Scientific and Technical Conference ‘Information Technologies in Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering (ITMM 2026)’. The event brought together scholars, faculty members, researchers, PhD students, and students to discuss current trends in the development of information technologies, mathematical modeling, intelligent systems, and digital solutions for metallurgy, mechanical engineering, science, and education.
The conference opened with welcome addresses from
- Oleksandr Velychko, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. Director of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’ USUST;
- Viktoriia Hnatushenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Information Technologies and Systems, USUST;
- Liudmyla Kamkina, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. Dean of the Faculty of Metallurgical Processes and Chemical Technologies, USUST.
They emphasized the need to advance interdisciplinary research, actively integrate modern IT solutions into industrial and educational practice, and expand scientific cooperation.
The plenary and sectional sessions featured a range of informative presentations. In particular, Erik Lapkhanov examined issues related to assessing the effectiveness of implementing high-tech, long-term investment business projects in today’s stochastic economic environment. Oleksandr Cherniavskyi presented research findings on mathematical modeling of complex dynamic processes during the launch of liquid-propellant rocket engines.
In the section ‘Mathematical modeling and design of complex systems’, the research by Ye.V. Vieskov, S.O. Dovhyi, and D.O. Riedchyts was presented, focusing on a numerical study of the wake structure behind an oscillating circular cylinder at low Reynolds numbers.
Among the presentations on modern digital technologies, Polina Hlazunova’s report on creating three-dimensional game levels based on the reconstruction of aerial photographs attracted particular attention. The presentation of Valerii Nosov was also of great practical interest, highlighting methodological approaches to preparing datasets for training fraud detection models in e-commerce.
ITMM 2026 became an important event in the university’s academic life. The conference fostered the exchange of research findings, professional discussion of current scientific and technical challenges, and the development of communication among specialists from different fields.
Following the event, the participants noted a high scientific standard of the presentations, the relevance of the topics addressed, and the need to further advance research in information technologies, mathematical modeling, and intelligent systems.
