USUST held an Information Day on the Horizon Europe Programme
On 6 November 2025, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted an Information Day dedicated to the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation ‘Horizon Europe’.
The event was organised by the team of the National Contact Point “Climate, Energy and Mobility” at USUST with the support of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
The event focused on the theme ‘Current Calls and Partnership Building in Project Proposals under the ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility’ Cluster’. More than 50 scientists, PhD students, researchers and teaching staff interested in the international cooperation within the Horizon Europe programme took part in the Information Day. The event was held in a hybrid format, enabling participation both in person and online via the Zoom platform.
The Information Day was opened by Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, Rector of USUST, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, who emphasized the importance of Ukrainian universities’ participation in international research programmes. A welcoming address was also delivered by Nataliia Didenko, Senior Researcher and Deputy Head of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine.
Throughout the event, the speakers presented key priority areas, support instruments, and practical recommendations for participation in Horizon Europe calls:
• Professor Vladyslav Danishevskyi, Head of the National Contact Point ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility’, outlined the structure of the programme and the participation of Ukrainian organisations in it.
• Associate Professor Nataliia Chernova, Head of the International Relations Department, shared her experience in formulating a research idea and transforming it into a European context.
• Nataliia Didenko presented the opportunities available under Cluster 5 ‘Climate, Energy and Mobility’ within the 2026–2027 Work Programme.
• Kateryna Sokolova, Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the International Relations Department, discussed partnership building as a key success factor in international consortia.
• Associate Professor Maryna Babenko, Head of the Centre for International Research Cooperation, presented USUST’s Horizon Europe success story — the SEEDS Project (ID 101138211).
During the Q&A session, participants discussed practical aspects of preparing project proposals, partnership agreements and submitting applications. The participants could gain valuable knowledge and tools for taking part in European research initiatives, to expand their professional networks, and to draw inspiration from the experience of successful colleagues.
The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies continues to actively integrate into the European Research Area, supporting researchers and teaching staff who strive to advance science without borders.
