USUST faculty on Erasmus+ internship at the Slovak University of Technology
From February 9 to 17, 2026, an international internship was held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava within the framework of the VETpartEx project ‘Future-Oriented Vocational Education for the Construction Sector of Ukraine’ under the Erasmus+ KA2 program.
The faculty members of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies participated in the internship, namely Candidates of Technical Sciences and Associate Professors of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’ Anastasiia Haidar, Olena Koval, Yevhen Yurchenko, and Oleksandr Trehub (online).
The purpose of the internship was to improve professional education in Ukraine and to harmonize educational programs for training specialists in the construction sector acoording to EU standards.
During the program, the faculty members participated in seminars and practical sessions involving researchers and experts from the Slovak University of Technology, the Slovak Green Building Council, and the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers. The main topics of the lectures and training sessions included:
- EU policies and standardization in construction.
- Concepts of green building, sustainable development, and reconstruction.
- Implementation of innovative energy-efficient construction materials.
- Ensuring the quality of education in accordance with the requirements of the European labor market.
- Training and accreditation of technical discipline instructors in line with EU standards.
Representatives of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers conducted a practical training session on digital skills and BIM technologies (Building Information Modeling). The participants got acquainted with modern methods of data collection, design software systems, BIM management, and communication practices among project stakeholders.
In addition, European colleagues demonstrated the organization of the educational process, the integration of theory and practice, the implementation of dual education through cooperation with employers, and opportunities for student academic mobility.
The internship contributed to the development of international partnerships, the exchange of professional experience, and the implementation of modern teaching methods in the training of specialists for the construction sector. The knowledge gained will help enhance the quality of professional education and support the preparation of specialists who can introduce innovative solutions in the reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine in accordance with European standards.
