USUST delegation at the Conference on International Professional Exchange in Shanghai

On October 21–22, 2025, the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP 2025) took place at the Shanghai World Expo Center.
 
Held under the motto ‘Gathering Global Talents for Shared Success’, the event united more than 2,600 international experts from scientific, educational, and technological communities representing over 110 countries and regions.
 
CIEP is the largest platform in China for international professional exchange, with a history of more than 20 years. The conference promotes the development of global connections among research institutions, universities, startups, and industrial companies.
 
The event was organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China, the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and a number of leading universities.
 
CIEP 2025 focused on key topics such as international scientific and technological cooperation, sustainable urban development, digital transformation in education, and the engagement of global talents in China’s innovative projects.
 
Specialized sections were dedicated to:
• interdisciplinary design and urban resilience;
• innovation in construction and architecture;
• metallurgy;
• artificial intelligence, energy, and green technologies;
• international internship and academic exchange programs.
 
At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by representatives of the government of the People’s Republic of China and leading scientists from around the world, including Nobel Prize laureates.
At the invitation of Northeastern University (Shenyang, P. R. China), a delegation of scholars from the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies took part in the event. The delegation included:
 
• Kostiantyn Sukhyi, Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies;
• Oleksandr Velychko, Director of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’;
• Yurii Proidak, Vice-Rector for Research of USUST;
• Iryna Sukha, Acting Director of the SEI ‘Aerospace Institute”;
• Yuliia Polishchuk, Director of the Scientific Center for Innovative Materials and Technologies.
 
During the plenary session, Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi presented the participants with an overview of the main scientific achievements and educational directions of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
 
On October 22, 2025, a special lecture session was held, organized by the faculty of Metallurgy and the School of Metallurgy of Northeastern University. Experts from China, Ukraine, Korea, Australia, and several other countries participated in the discussions.
 
At this session, Rector of USUST, Prof. Kostiantyn Sukhyi, and Director of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’, Oleksandr Velychko, delivered thematic presentations related to the conference’s focus areas.
 
In addition to participating in the conference sessions, the delegation visited the Shanghai Development Center of Computer Software Technology, the Blockchain Technology Research Institute of SAST, and the Culture & Tech Center.

The event became an important step toward strengthening scientific diplomacy and building a shared innovation space between China, Ukraine, and the global community.
