USUST academic staff participate in international training programme in the Czech Republic within the VETpartEx project

Academic staff of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’ of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies participated in the international training programme ‘BIM and LEAN training for Ukrainian  educators inconstruction’, held from 1 to 9 June 2026 at Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic. The event took place within the framework of the international project ‘VETpartEx – Future-Oriented Vocational Education for the Construction Sector of Ukraine in Partnership for Excellence”, implemented under the Erasmus+ KA2 Capacity Building in Higher and Vocational Education programme.

The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies was represented at the training by Oleksandr Trehub, Associate Professor of the Department of Highways, Geodesy and Land Management, and Anastasiia Haidar, Associate Professor of the Department of Construction Production Technologies.
The VETpartEx  (Future-Oriented Vocational Education for the Construction Sector of Ukraine) project aims to modernise the training of specialists for Ukraine’s construction sector in line with contemporary European requirements. Its key areas  include the integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies, Lean Construction principles, digital tools for design and construction management, as well as the modernisation of educational programmes and the strengthening of cooperation among universities, vocational education institutions, and industry. In June 2026, the project was included in the Top 20 most important Erasmus+ projects supporting the recovery of Ukraine, confirming its strategic importance for the development of construction education.

The training programme combined lectures, practical seminars, workshops, and study visits dedicated to the digital transformation of the construction sector, the application of BIM technologies, Lean Construction principles, and contemporary European standards in design and construction.
The participants studied the integration of BIM solutions into design, construction, and facility management processes, as well as the synergy between BIM and LEAN approaches, which enables the optimisation of workflows, minimisation of resource losses, and enhancement of the efficiency of investment and construction project implementation.

Particular attention was paid to the practical component of the programme. During the workshops, the participants worked with the professional software package SEMA, analysed real-world digital building design cases, and mastered contemporary approaches to modelling and information management throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects.

The programme also included study visits to construction enterprises in the Czech Republic, where the Ukrainian academics learned about the practical application of BIM technologies, digital construction management, prefabrication technologies, environmentally sustainable production processes, and the implementation of LEAN principles in the operations of modern companies. This training made it possible to combine European experience with the practical needs of modernising construction education in Ukraine.

The participation of USUST faculty members in the international training programme marked another important step toward the University’s integration into the European educational and research area. The knowledge and practical skills gained during the training will be applied to the modernization of educational programmes at the Educational and Scientific Institute “Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture” (SEI PSACEA), the implementation of advanced digital technologies in the teaching process, the development of interdisciplinary training for future engineers and architects, and the enhancement of specialist preparation to support the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

Participation in international Erasmus+ educational projects is an integral part of the strategic development of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. These initiatives contribute to the implementation of European educational standards, the expansion of international partnerships, and the preparation of highly qualified professionals capable of meeting the demands of the modern construction industry.
