The Youth Education Council Begins Its Work at USUST

The Regulations on the “Council for Social and Humanitarian Policy and Educational Work” were approved and enacted at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies following the order of Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi (Order № 328 dated December 30, 2024).

The Council commenced its activities in the early days of 2025 with an organizational meeting held at the Department of Student Educational Work of USUST at the SEI PSACEA. The meeting’s agenda, attended by faculty representatives from all SEIs of the university, focused on organizing key educational events and patriotic awareness projects for USUST students in light of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. One of the major decisions was to prepare and hold an interuniversity scientific and practical conference on April 11, 2025, on the timely topic: “Educating the Technical Elite Amidst Modern Challenges”.

Another important topic was the development of a collective decision regarding the nomination procedure for the university website’s “Gallery of Success.” This gallery is expected to play a crucial motivational role in shaping students’ aspirations by showcasing the achievements of outstanding professors, graduates, and students as role models.

Among the Council’s main objectives is advising deans and deputy deans for educational work on the organization of educational processes. At the initiative of Council Chair Vice-Rector Halyna YEVSIEIEVA, a proposal was made to assist student group curators of all SEIs in organizing a series of historical and patriotic lectures titled: “The Resilience of the Ukrainian Nation: History and Present.”

Patriotic education of students remains the top priority of Ukrainian higher education during the full-scale war. The Council unanimously decided to conduct lectures on historical, linguistic, political, gender, and security topics.

The responsibility for directly moderating the lecture plan was assigned to Associate Professor Viktor BILOPOLOH, Head of the Department of Philosophy at the SEI PSACEA. The technical support for the lectures will be overseen by Oleksandra OMELYCH, Lead Engineer at the Department of Student Educational Work of USUST.

During the first week of the new semester, three scheduled lectures were conducted as part of this series:

  • February 17, 2025 – ZOOM lecture for students of SEI USUCT
Topic: “DIY Shelters for Civil Safety and Field Fortifications”
