SUST first-year students’ festival “Star Wave 2025”

On October 9, 2025, the concert hall of the Palace of culture of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted an annual festival of new creative talents ‘Star Wave 2025’. This event traditionally starts a vibrant student life for first-year students from all educational and scientific institutes, who joined the large USUST community just a few weeks ago.

Before the concert began, festive atmosphere filled the foyer: a photo zone was set up, volunteers were greeting the guests and inviting them to take pictures, modern music was playing in the hall. The hosts of the evening were Emi (SEI ‘PSACEA’), Olena (SEI ‘PSAPCS’), and cadets of the Department of Military Training of the State  Transport Special Service – Ivan Nikonenko and Ivan Ponamariov.
 
 ‘Star Wave’ was opened by the USUST contemporary dance studio ‘Just Dance’ led by Zlata Bohomaz. Their performance ‘Let’s Dance’ energized the audience and set the tone for the entire evening. Next, Evelina Hrom and Mykhailo Lomaha (SEI ‘PSAPCS’) performed their graceful and elegant ballroom dance, which was followed by a charming performance ‘Dance of the Bird’ by Daryna Morshchatska (SEI ‘USUCT’) with warm applause from the audience.

The modern rhythm of the evening was kept by Iryna Baranichenko (SEI ‘DIIT’) with her K-pop dance ‘Jellyous’, and by a vice champion of Ukraine Kateryna Lebedieva together with Vladyslav Shashkin (SEI ‘PSAPCS’), who performed their dynamic ‘Jive’. Polina Savchenko (SEI ‘PSAPCS’) impressed the audience with her creative cosplay performance ‘Zootopia’, while  Anna Dychko (SEI ‘PSACEA’) filled the audience with unstoppable energy through her fiery performance ‘Flash’.

A poweful hip-hop duo ‘One Be One” was performed by the Ukrainian champions Karina Kosevych and Karina Skvortsova (SEI ‘PSAPCS’). Yaroslava Pryimachuk  (SEI ‘DIIT’) brought a truly lyrical tone to the stage with her dance ‘Gabriela’. She was followed by an elegant ballroom couple Yevhen Bilyi (SEI ‘PSAPCS’) and his partner, whose refined movements captivated the audience. The After that Viktoriia Nikolaienko, a world champion in acrodance, amazed the spectators with her powerful cheerleading-style performance.

Special attention was drawn to the cadets of the Department of Military Training of the State Transport Special Service, Ivan Nikonenko and Ivan Ponamariov, who performed an instrumental duet and once again proved that USUST students have no limits when it comes to talent.
 
The festival continued with the performance of a humorous team ‘USUST PROJECT’, which represents the university in the All-Ukrainian Student ‘League of Laughter Dnipro’. To conclude the concert, the ‘Just Dance’ ensemble returned to the stage with their final performance ‘The USUST Dance’. After that, all participants of the event  ‘Star Wave 2025’ came together on stage, creating a true constellation of university stars.

Olha Ryzhova, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs, Advertising, Information Activities and Communications and Stanislav Radzimovskyi, director of the Center for Culture, Arts, and PR, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks. They thanked the first-year students for their sincerity and inspiration and presented diplomas from the rector of USUST. All the participants received sweet gifts from the trade union, the ’USUST PROJECT’ team was awarded diplomas and branded presents from the university for their participation in the All-Ukrainian Student ‘League of Laughter Dnipro’.

The festival finished with the performance of the USUST Anthem, as the audience stood up  and applauded the new stars who are just beginning their creative journey, yet already making a confident statement about their talents.
