Staff Meetings of the SEI ‘USUCT’ and SEI ‘Aerospace Institute’

On 24 December 2025, the staff meetings of two educational and scientific institutes – ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’ and ‘Aerospace Institute’ were held at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. The key item on the agenda of both meetings was the approval of candidates for the positions of Institute Directors.

 

 

A total of 194 elected delegates took part in the staff meetings of the SEI ‘USUCT’. Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Professor Oleksandr Zaichuk also attended the event.

 

To organize the work of the meeting, a presidium consisting of four members was elected:
Acting Director of the Institute, Professor Olha Sverdlivkovska;

Head of the Department of Theory of Inorganic Substances and Ecology, Professor Ihor Kovalenko; Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs of USUST, Professor Oleksandr Zaichuk; and Chair of the Trade Union Council of the Institute, Liudmyla Stepanenko. Academic Secretary of the Institute, Associate Professor Karolina Yanova was elected as the Secretary of the meeting.

 

Vice-Rector Oleksandr Zaichuk delivered  a report on the candidacy of Professor Olha Sverdlivkovska for the position of Director of the SEI  ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’. Following this, the candidate presented the Development Program of the SEI ‘USUCT’ for 2025-2030  .

 

In her report, Olha Sverdlivkovska outlined the vision of the Institute as a key chemical-technology and materials science center of USUST that integrates education, research, and innovation to address the real needs of industry, energy, defense sector, and Ukraine’s environmental security. She drew attention to contemporary challenges, including transformations in the higher education system and integration into the European Higher Education Area, the conditions of wartime, business demand for practice-oriented professional training and applied research, as well as the need to strengthen the Institute’s scientific, innovative, and international activities.

 

The Development Program provides for the renewal of educational programs, the development of dual education, modernization of research infrastructure, support for early-career researchers, expansion of partnerships with business and the community, internationalization, digitalization of educational and administrative processes, as well as strengthening the Institute’s communication openness and brand.

 

Following the presentation, Olha Sverdlivkovska answered the questions from the members of the staff. During the discussion, support for the candidate was expressed by Marharyta Skyba, Secretary of the Selection Admissions Committee of the Institute and Professor of the Department of Theory of Inorganic Substances and Ecology; Valerii Ovcharov, Dean of the Faculty of Food and Chemical Technologies, and Ihor Kovalenko, Head of the Department of Theory of Inorganic Substances and Ecology.

 

As a result of the open vote, the candidacy of Olha Sverdlivkovska for the position of Director of the SEI ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology\ was approved unanimously.

 

Following the first meeting, a staff meeting of the SEI ‘Aerospace Institute’ was held, with 115 delegates taking part. The event was also attended by the Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Professor Oleksandr Zaichuk.

 

The following members were elected to the presidium: Acting Director of the SEI ‘Aerospace Institute’, Associate Professor Iryna Sukha; Head of the Department of Theory of Natural and Synthetic Polymers, Fats, and Food Products, Professor Oleh Chervakov; Vice-Rector of USUST Oleksandr Zaichuk; and Deputy Chair of the Primary Trade Union Organization of USUST, Liudmyla Stepanenko. Academic Secretary of the Institute, Associate Professor Karolina Yanova was elected as the Secretary of the meeting. The conference was chaired by Professor Oleh Chervakov.

 

Vice-Rector Oleksandr Zaichuk delivered  a report on the candidacy of Associate Professor Iryna Sukha for the position of Director of the SEI  ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’. She presented the Development Program of the SEI ‘Aerospace Institute’  for 2025–2030.

 

In her report, Iryna Sukha outlined the Institute’s mission as a center for training highly qualified specialists in the field of aerospace and related technologies, advancing fundamental and applied research, fostering innovation, and maintaining close cooperation with industry enterprises, in particular those of the defense-industrial complex. The Development Program provides for the improvement of educational programs in the specialty ‘Aviation and Rocket and Space Engineering’, the development of scientific and technical activities, personnel policy, international cooperation, student self-governance, and the Institute’s organizational operations.

 

Following the presentation, the candidate answered the questions from the members of the staff. During the discussion, support for Iryna Sukha was expressed by the Deputy Director of the SEI ‘ Aerospace Institute’, Professor Kostiantyn Varlan; another Deputy Director of the Institute, Professor Yurii Mitikov; Head of the Department of Theory of Inorganic Substances and Ecology of the SEI ‘USUCT’, Professor Ihor Kovalenko, as well as Associate Professor of the Department of Chemical Technologies of Ceramics, Glass, and Biomedical Materials  Oleksandra Amelina.

 

As a result of the open vote, the candidacy of Iryna Sukha for the position of Director of theSEI ‘Aerospace Institute’ was approved unanimously.
