Spring, beauty, and charm celebrated at USUST
On March 5, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies celebrated a vibrant Spring, Beauty, and Charm Day, bringing together students, faculty, and university staff.
The event took place in the beautifully decorated USUST Academic Council Hall, adorned with flowers and balloons. Before the celebration began, guests were welcomed by lyrical instrumental music, a spring-themed photo area in soft pastel tones, a festive buffet, and male members of the university Student Council, elegantly dressed for the occasion, who greeted the ladies and invited them to take part in a compliment lottery.
The festive programme opened with a vibrant performance called I Am Spring’ by Just Dance, the USUST contemporary dance studio. It was a floral fashion parade in which the performers appeared in dresses and imaginative flower-inspired hats, creating a truly spring-like atmosphere.
The event was hosted by university students Mykhailo Lomaha and Emiliia Sviridenko. They welcomed the guests and invited the audience to express their gratitude with applause to the defenders of Ukraine – the Armed Forces of Ukraine, thanks to whom Ukrainians have the opportunity to welcome a new spring.
Rector of USUST, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, addressed the university community with a welcoming speech. He emphasized that the celebration of spring provides a wonderful opportunity to once again express gratitude to women for their support, wisdom, and inspiration. ‘Beauty should always come first. The celebration of spring is a wonderful opportunity to say how much we love and appreciate you, and how important your support is both at home and at work. You inspire us to achieve great things. I wish you always to feel young, healthy, beautiful, and capable of accomplishing much, much more’, Kostiantyn Sukhyi noted.
One of the central parts of the celebration was the spring awards ceremony honouring female representatives of the university’s educational and scientific institutes and administrative units, women who contribute every day to the development of USUST through their hard work, professionalism, and dedication.
The first honorary awards were presented to the representatives of the SEI ‘Dnipro Institute of Infrastructure and Transport’. The festive atmosphere was followed by an elegant dance performance by Kateryna Lebedieva, Vice-Champion of Ukraine and Master of Sport in ballroom dancing, and her partner Vladyslav Shashkin, They are World Championship semi-finalists in ballroom dancing representing the Prydniprovska State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport.
The next awards were given to the charming representatives of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’. A special gift for the audience was a performance by Artem Magdenko, a participant in international festivals and television projects, who performed the song ‘Someone Like You’.
This was followed by awarding the representatives of the SEI ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’ and ‘Aerospace Institute’.
A lyrical highlight of the programme was a poetry performed by Mariia Bezzub, a student of the Dnipro Institute of Infrastructure and Transport, participant in the ‘Miss and Mister USUST’ competition, and holder of the Miss Grace title, who recited the poem ‘A Happy Woman’.
This was followed by awarding the representatives of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’.Another vibrant highlight of the celebration was the dance performance ‘Hats’ by Just Dance, the USUST contemporary dance studio, led by Zlata Bohomaz.
Then the awarding ceremony continued with the representatives of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport’ – one of the university’s leading centres of sporting achievement. A special moment of the ceremony was the announcement of appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine awarded to Professor Olena Shmychkova, Department of Physical Chemistry for her high professionalism and conscientious performance of duties in conducting research, scientific and technical expert evaluation.
Also, on the occasion of Spring, Beauty, and Charm Day, certificates of merit were awarded to the following female members of the university staff in recognition of their high professionalism, responsibility, dedication to their work, conscientious service, and for fostering an atmosphere of trust, support, and inspiration within their teams:

- Svitlana Borycheva, head of the Academic Affairs Office of USUST, senior lecturer at the Department of Transport Hubs, Dnipro Institute of Infrastructure and Transport
- Nataliia Hruzin, leading specialist at the UDNUT Marketing Department and Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Materials Processing, Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture
- Olena Nesterova, leading specialist at the USUST Marketing Department and Associate Professor at the Department of Water Supply, Wastewater Disposal and Hydraulics, Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture
- Oksana Radzimovska, deputy director of the USUST Centre for Culture, Arts and Media Relations
- Vitaliina Shcherbyna, leading specialistof the USUST Marketing and Career Guidance Department
- Nataliia Kolupaieva, specialist of the category I of the USUST Academic Affairs Office

The performance by Artem Magdenko was the final musical gift for the guests. He performed his own songs dedicated to the women of the university. At the end of the celebration, all concert participants came onto the stage, including students of the Just Dance contemporary dance studio, Ukrainian Vice-Champion in ballroom dancing Kateryna Lebedieva, student and chair of the DIIT Student Council Mariia Bezzub, and the event host Emiliia Sviridenko. The university Trade Union presented the participants with flowers and sweet gifts.
We sincerely thank the staff of the USUST Centre for Culture, Arts and Media Relations for the excellent organisation of the celebration. Due to their creativity, attention to detail, and inspired work, this day was filled with warmth, good cheer, and a truly uplifting spirit of spring.
This event once again reminded everyone that a university is not only about science and technology, but also about the people who create an atmosphere of creativity and inspiration every day. Among them, women hold a special place – female lecturers, researchers, staff members, and students who inspire, unite, and bring warmth to university life.
