Scientific Tournament “The First USUST Hackathon”

From February 11 to 14, 2025, the First USUST Hackathon—a large-scale scientific tournament—took place at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. The event brought together 51 teams from lyceums, colleges, and vocational schools across Dnipro and the region.

The tournament began with an official online opening ceremony, where Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi addressed the participants, emphasizing the importance of developing innovative thinking, teamwork, and scientific research.

The teams competed in five sections:

  • Information Technology and Robotics (hosted at SEI DIIT)
  • Natural and Technological Sciences (hosted at SEI USUCT)
  • Economic and Humanitarian Sciences (hosted at SEI PSACEA)
  • Construction and Architecture (hosted at SEI PSACEA)
  • Engineering and Materials Science (hosted at SEI DMetI)

Over four days, participants developed innovative solutions in the fields of energy efficiency, digital security, artificial intelligence, automation, and urban infrastructure. They were guided by experienced mentors, including university professors, researchers, and business representatives.

The final day became the highlight of the tournament: teams presented their projects to the jury, which evaluated them based on relevance, novelty, creativity, technical implementation, and presentation quality.

As a result of the competition, all teams received certificates, while the winners were awarded diplomas and cash prizes. Special awards from the USUST trade union and stakeholders were also presented.

The USUST Hackathon received strong support from the business and scientific communities. Stakeholders included IT companies such as EPAM, Apriorit, and Building Engineering Solutions, as well as municipal enterprises “E-Dnipro” and “INFO-RADA-DNIPRO,” and companies like Aqua-Holding LLC, Dneprometiz TAS LLC, INTERPIPE, and other organizations.

The First USUST Hackathon demonstrated that young people are ready to tackle modern challenges, work effectively in teams, and develop promising scientific solutions. The organizers are already working on expanding this project, attracting more teams and partners, and providing even greater opportunities for participants.

Congratulations to the winners and all participants! We wish you continued scientific success and look forward to new ideas!
