Scientific Seminar by World-Renowned Professor Yuriy Hohotsi
On May 14, 2025, an open scientific seminar featuring the world-renowned scientist, Professor Yuriy Hohotsi, took place at Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. The event was held in a hybrid format (offline/online) in the conference hall of the Scientific and Educational Institute of Digital Metallurgy and Information Technologies (SEI DMetI) and attracted a wide audience of researchers, faculty members, students, and interested listeners.
The topic of Professor Yuriy Hohotsi’s presentation was: “Two-Dimensional MXenes as Nanoscale Building Blocks for Future Materials and Devices.”
In his presentation, Professor Hohotsi introduced participants to the latest advances in the research of MXenes — an innovative class of two-dimensional materials demonstrating exceptional potential in fields such as optoelectronics, energy storage, electromagnetic shielding, biomedicine, and more. Special attention was given to the electronic, mechanical, and chemical properties of MXenes, which already allow them to outperform traditional materials in a variety of applications.
Professor Yuriy Hohotsi is one of the most influential scientists in the field of nanotechnology, director of the Drexel Nanotechnology Institute (USA), member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and honorary doctor of over 15 universities worldwide. His contributions to science were highly appreciated by the event participants, as evidenced by the numerous questions posed to the speaker and the keen interest in the seminar topic.
The open scientific seminar was a landmark event for the USUST scientific community, fostering active knowledge exchange and opening new prospects for further research in the field of two-dimensional materials.
