Report of the Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies at the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine

On September 4, 2024, at a regular meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, chaired by Academician Anatolii Zahorodnii, the Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Kostiantyn Mykhailovych Sukhyi, presented a report titled “Functional Substances and Materials for Hydrogen Energy and Special Equipment.” In his speech, he emphasized that the university is conducting important fundamental and applied research aimed at developing cutting-edge energy-saving technologies in the field of “green” chemistry and special chemistry.

The Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine noted the significant contribution of the university’s scientific community to the development of aviation and rocket technology, which is critical for Ukraine’s national and defense security. In particular, the team of researchers led by Kostiantyn Sukhyi has developed the physical and chemical foundations for creating functional substances and materials for dual-use purposes.

All these achievements have been integrated into the university’s educational process and have formed the basis for preparing highly qualified specialists in the field of aviation and rocket technology. Additionally, the university’s research is actively supported under the programs of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and the international Horizon 2020 program.

The Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine also emphasized the importance of further research in the field of special chemistry aimed at creating new dual-use technologies and recommended strengthening the coordination of the university’s cooperation with leading scientific institutions and specialized enterprises, including SE “Pivdennyi Machine-Building Plant named after O.M. Makarov.”
