Regional U17 Freestyle Wrestling Championship held at USUST

On February 17, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the Dnipropetrovsk Region U17 Freestyle Wrestling Championship. The event served as another example of the University’s systematic efforts to promote sport and encourage young people to have an active and healthy lifestyle.

 

More than 200 athletes from youth sports schools of Dnipro and across the Dnipropetrovsk region took part in the competition. Throughout the day, the young wrestlers demonstrated technical proficiency, endurance, composure, and true sporting character as they competed across various weight categories.

 

The academic staff of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports’ organized and conducted the championship. The competition was directly supervised by Associate Professor of the Department of Boxing, Wrestling and Weightlifting, Honored Coach of Ukraine Mykola Pavlovych Makhinko.

 

As a result of the championship, a number of athletes secured prize-winning places, confirming the high level of their training and the effectiveness of their coaches’ daily work. The organizers recognized the participants for their perseverance and expressed their gratitude to the coaches for their professionalism, high standards, and belief in their athletes.

 

Hosting such competitions at USUST contributes to the development of youth sport and strong sporting culture, as well as the support of talented young people across the region.
