Presentation of Volodymyr Melnychenko’s book at the USUST library

On October 10, 2025, the library of the SEI ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’ hosted a presentation of the book by Volodymyr Melnychenko titled ‘A historical and canonical reference book for the orthodox cossack of Ukraine. Part one’.

 

The event, organized in cooperation with colleagues from the library of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’, became a true spiritual and educational celebration for students and teaching staff. It brought together representatives of various institutes of the university around a common topic –  historical memory and spiritual values of Ukrainian people.

 

The author of the publication, Volodymyr Ivanovych Melnychenko, is the first deputy Chief Ataman of the International Cossack Union ‘Ukrainian Hetman Army’, Colonel General of the UHA, Cossack writer, and public figure. The study, he worked on for nearly ten years, is the result of many years of research into historical, ecclesiastical, and publicistic sources, as well as documentary materials and archival records.

 

The first part of the book, ‘Historical and canonical reference. From Trypillia to Ukraine’, is dedicated to the history of origin, formation, and development of Ukrainian ethnos, as well as to the establishment of the Orthodox Church on the territory of Rus’-Ukraine and its path from the Kyiv Metropolis to the modern Orthodox Church of Ukraine, recognized by the Tomos of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in 2019. The book also includes materials about the emergence of Ukrainian Cossacks, the descendants of the House of Danylo of Halych, the hetmans and atamans of the Cossack State, and the spiritual foundations of the Ukrainian warrior tradition.

 

The publication has significant scientific and educational value, as it will serve as a valuable resource to  study the history of Ukraine, conduct educational classes and events. It will be for everyone interested in the history and cultural heritage of Ukrainian people.

 

During the presentation, Yaroslav Kozlov, Associate Professor and deputy director of the SEI ‘USUCT’, expressed gratitude to the author for his profound research and emphasized that such meetings not only help students deepen their knowledge but also foster national awareness and love for Ukrainian history.

 

At the end of the meeting, Volodymyr Melnychenko donated the copies of his book to the university libraries, wishing the students success in their studies and inspiration in exploring the past of their native land.

Such events, which combine scientific, educational, and spiritual dimensions, strengthen the unity of the university community, contribute to the preservation of historical memory, and promote the development of spirituality.
