Participation of USUST Faculty in an Intensive Program by the Slovak University of Technology
From September 16 to 20, faculty members of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies (SEI “Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture” and SEI “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology”) participated in an intensive training course on “Energy-Efficient Buildings,” organized by the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The course was conducted within the framework of the “UKRENERGY” project and aimed at improving the energy efficiency of Ukrainian buildings, enhancing the harmonization of academic approaches, and engaging stakeholders in the development of new courses. It also provided opportunities for Ukrainian university faculty to understand new teaching methods and integrate them into the educational process.
Among the participants from the SEI “PSACEA” were:
Yevhenii YURCHENKO, Cand. of Tech. Sc., Associate Professor, Head of the Energy Innovation Hub of PSACEA;
Olena KOVAL, Cand. of Tech. Sc., Senior Researcher, Associate Professor of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures;
Maryna LYAKHOVETSKA-TOKAREVA, Cand. of Tech. Sc., Associate Professor of the Department of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Heat and Gas Supply;
Leonid KOSENKO, Post-Graduate student of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures.
From SEI “USUCT” participated:
Olena BELYANOVSKA, Cand. of Tech. Sc., Associate Professor of the Department of Energy;
Iryna SUKHA, Cand. of Tech. Sc., Associate Professor of the Department of Natural and Synthetic Polymers, Fats, and Food Products Technology.
Representatives from other Ukrainian participants in the international project also took part, including Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Lviv Polytechnic National University, National Transport University, Odesa National Economic University, and Lviv National University.
The program featured academic lectures from European experts such as: Prof. Štefan Stanko, Prof. Ing. Michal Krajčík, Prof. Ing. Dušan Petráš, prof. Ivona Škultétyová, Dr. Jaroslav Hrudka, Dr. Réka Wittmanová. The participants learned about building energy certification methods, energy resource management, and the experience of European countries in the field of energy efficiency. Comparisons between Ukrainian and European standards were made, which will assist Ukraine in issues of recovery and energy conservation.
Discussions in small groups focused on harmonizing educational approaches, especially in disciplines related to energy efficiency. This course will help integrate new knowledge into Ukrainian academic programs and promote the development of scientific activities in the context of Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
The “UKRENERGY” project is of great importance in the current energy crisis and in preparing the country for reconstruction. The knowledge gained will allow the use of advanced European solutions for energy resource savings and will contribute to the active renewal of educational programs based on both Ukrainian and European experience.
We thank our colleagues from the Slovak University of Technology for the valuable knowledge and excellent organization of the course!
