Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant supports education at USUST

The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies continues to strengthen its strategic partnerships with leading industrial enterprises in Ukraine. These collaborations are aimed at enhancing students’ practical training and supporting young people in building their professional futures.

A notable example is the university’s cooperation with JSC Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, one of the world’s largest producers of manganese ferroalloys. Since its establishment in 1966, the plant has become an important part of Ukraine’s industrial complex and has developed a strong production school that serves the needs of the metallurgical sector both nationally and internationally.

Today, the enterprise operates under significant security-related challenges: it is located only about five kilometres from Russian positions. Constant shelling, proximity to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and energy risks have forced the plant to suspend production temporarily for the first time in its history. Despite these difficult circumstances, the enterprise continues to support the development of human capital, encourages young people to pursue higher education, and invests in the future.

By decision of Ruslan Ponomarenko, Director General of JSC Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, children of the company’s employees who enrol at USUST are eligible for compensation covering 90% of the cost of children’s health recreation vouchers. Additional support mechanisms are also available for applicants, including the use of vouchers from the State Employment Service and partial tuition financing by JSC Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant  (up to 70%), in accordance with concluded agreements.

This initiative is designed for those who:
  • strive for professional growth;
  • invest in their own future;
  • choose engineering specialties;
  • care about the stability of their families.
USUST, in turn, trains specialists who are already in demand by enterprises today, from metallurgy to infrastructure and energy. This is education with practical value and real career prospects.

The partnership between the university and the industrial sector is an important element in training competitive professionals who meet modern needs of the economy and contribute to Ukraine’s recovery and development.
