New memebers and annual plan: outcomes of the USUST Council meeting

On September 10, 2025, a regular meeting of the USUST Council on Social and Humanitarian Policy and Student Development was held. The event took place in a hybrid format: offline at the SEI ‘PSACEA’ (Room 222) and online via Zoom.
The agenda included three items:
  1. approval of the USUST plan of educational, organizational, awareness-raising, and patriotic activities for the 2025–2026 academic year;
  2. election of new Council members;
  3. miscellaneous.
Council members discussed the ‘Draft plan of educational, organizational, awareness-raising, and patriotic activities of USUST for the 2025–2026’, presented by Valentyna Babenko, Associate Professor and head of the Student Development Department. The partcicpants offered their proposals and recommendations on improving the student development process at the university.
 
The head of the Council, Vice-Rector Halyna Yevsieieva, drew attention to the key provisions of the plan, in particular to the importance of the series of historical and patriotic lectures ‘Resilience of the Ukrainian Nation: history and the present’, launched last year. This academic year, even more useful events are planned for students, including lectures, discussions, workshops, and training sessions on psychological support, financial literacy, payment security, and other important topics. She emphasized the need for active involvement of mentors from all educational and scientific institutes in these events, which will contribute to shaping the national identity of students in wartime conditions.
 
The Council members unanimously approved the ‘Plan of educational, organizational, awareness-raising, and patriotic activities of USUST for the 2025–2026’
 
During the consideration of organizational issues, the participants also discussed:
  • the completion of the project aimed at recognizing the University’s most successful students on the virtual honor board in accordance with the Procedure for nominating students to the ‘USUST Gallery of Success’;
  • the co-optation of new Council members to replace those who had left.
Valentyna Babenko, head of the Student Development Department., emphasized the importance of publishing information about high-achieving students on the university website as soon as possible, noting that this would serve as a strong motivation for young people to pursue academic and research excellence as well as active civic engagement.
 
It was also proposed to include Antonina Muntian, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, and head of the Department of Foreign Languages at the SEI ‘DIIT’, as a member of the council in place of S. P. Lahdan, who had resigned. In addition, following the re-election of the student self-government body, it was recommended to include Anastasiia Borysenko, a student of the SEI  ‘DIIT’ and the newly elected head of the USUST Student Council, as a member of the Council in place of Veli Bekirov.
