National Library Day 2024
On September 30, 2024, Ukrainians will celebrate National Library Day. This day symbolizes the importance of libraries in the life of society, the preservation of knowledge, and cultural heritage. The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies has not stayed on the sidelines of this celebration and has prepared a special program for its students, teachers, and personnel.
The Rector of USUST, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, addressed the entire university community with a congratulatory message:
Dear employees of the scientific libraries of our University!
I sincerely congratulate you on National Library Day! Today, we honor your tireless work, as you are the true keepers of knowledge and wisdom, who open the doors to the boundless world of information for thousands of students, teachers, researchers, and alumni. Your role in shaping Ukraine’s future is invaluable.
Libraries are not just collections of books; they are places where ideas are born, where researchers find inspiration, and students acquire the necessary knowledge for their development. Like beacons in the sea of information, you help navigate the complex ocean of knowledge, providing access to repositories, electronic libraries, and journals that help integrate our country into the international scientific space.
Thanks to your efforts, many digital initiatives have been implemented, numerous scientific and practical seminars and webinars have been held, which contribute to the development of professional competencies of librarians and researchers. You make a significant contribution to improving scientific communication and ensuring access to the latest knowledge.
Dear librarians, on this festive day, I would like to personally thank you, on behalf of myself and all users, for your contribution to the development of science and education.
I wish you new achievements, inspiration, and creative success in your important work!
The USUST Scientific Library is also joining the celebration by organizing a charity event “The Antiquarian Views”. The goal of this event is to collect retro books to raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The library invites all students, teachers, and personnel of the university to participate in this auction from September 30 to October 30, 2024. Books will be collected at all scientific libraries of USUST.
