Modern SIEMENS equipment fot USUST students

On 12 January 2026, the Department of Automation of Industrial Processes of the SEI ‘Dnipro Metallurgical Institute’ of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted a presentation of modern measurement and control equipment by SIEMENS, one of the world’s leading global brands in the field of industrial automation. As part of cooperation, 13 instruments and systems were granted free of charge to the Department by SIEMENS Ukraine.
 
The event was held on-site and brought together the university leadership, representatives of educational and scientific institutes and faculties, heads of departments, and industry partners.
 
Opening the meeting, Mariia Rybalchenko, Associate Professor and head of the department of Automation of Industrial Processes, emphasized that the acquired equipment can significantly strengthen students’ practical training and create conditions for the future establishment of a specialized training and research laboratory.
 
The main part of the presentation was delivered by the representatives of SIEMENS Ukraine: Vitalii Zakharenko, sales manager of the Digital Industries department, and Stanislav Rybalchenko, sales and technical support specialist. They introduced the audience to the history and current global standing of SIEMENS, as well as to the technical capabilities of the donated equipment, including devices from the SITRANS and SIWAREX product lines.
 
The donated equipment includes measurement and control instruments designed for a wide range of industrial applications, namely:
  • SITRANS FC430 Coriolis flowmeters, which provide high-precision measurement of mass and volumetric flow, density, and temperature of process media -liquids or gases – with a high data update rate and stable measurement performance under demanding process conditions;
  • Intelligent remote data acquisition and monitoring systems that integrate field sensors into a unified system with capabilities for remote access and data analysis;
  • Radar and ultrasonic level transmitters for the continuous level measurement of liquids and bulk solids;
  • Pressure, level, and other high-precision sensors for general-purpose measurement of process parameters in automated control systems.
These devices represent the standard of modern industrial metrology and are widely used in water supply and water treatment systemsenergy productionmetallurgyoil and gas and chemical industries, as well as in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. The experts placed particular emphasis on the practical significance of the equipment for the educational process. Students will have the opportunity to work with real industrial-grade instruments, apply modern measurement, monitoring, and supervisory control methods, which significantly strengthens their professional competencies prior to industrial practice.
 
Addressing the participants of the event, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, expressed his gratitude to SIEMENS Ukraine for supporting the university and emphasized the importance of such initiatives for the development of students’ practical training. He also noted that the company’s representative, Stanislav Rybalchenko, is a graduate of USUST, and expressed hope for the further development of cooperation with the company, its alumni, and the student community.
 
As part of the discussion, the participants outlined the prospects for establishing a training classroom in energy engineering and process automation, as well as a nationwide educational and technological center of SIEMENS at the university, aimed at the practical training of engineers.
 
The event concluded with a guided tour of the new robotics classroom of the department of Automation of Industrial Processes, where guests acquainted with the integration of modern technologies into the educational process at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
