Memorandum of Cooperation signed under the ‘GREEN-ED: Green Education of Dnipro’ initiative

On February 20, 2026, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies and Dnipro Gymnasium No. 141 of the Dnipro City Council. The agreement launches the educational project ‘GREEN-ED: Green Education of Dnipro’, aimed at fostering environmental awareness among school students and promoting the natural sciences and chemical engineering disciplines.

 

On behalf of USUST, the Memorandum was signed by the Rector of the university, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, and the Director of the SEI ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’, Professor Olha Sverdlikovska.

 

The signing ceremony was attended by the representatives of the city’s educational community, including Nataliia Sierikova, head of the Organizational Affairs Division of the General Secondary Education Department of the Humanitarian Policy Office of the Dnipro City Council, and Iryna Khomiak, principal of Dnipro Gymnasium No. 141. Professor Marharyta Skyba, executive secretary of the Admissions Committee of the SEI ‘USUCT’ was also present at the event.

 

According to the ‘GREEN-ED: Green Education of Dnipro’ project, school students of 9–11 grades will be involved in practical classes, laboratory work, and lectures conducted at the SEI ‘USUCT’. The program covers such topics as green chemistry, waste recycling, renewable energy sources, environmental risk assessment, and other key components of sustainable development. The implementation of the project enables school students to know modern scientific approaches and understand practical application of theoretical knowledge.

 

Within the framework of the partnership, project participants are already engaged in water quality research, developing environmental initiatives, and completing applied tasks under the guidance of university’s faculty members and researchers.

The signing of this Memorandum is one more step in strengthening cooperation between USUST and general secondary education institutions. It will contribute to the formation of an environmentally responsible generation capable of addressing the challenges of sustainable development on the basis of scientific knowledge.
