The purpose of the Ukraine Improving Higher Education for Results Project (UIHERP) is to increase efficiency and improve conditions for quality and transparency in the higher education system of Ukraine. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of the World Bank.
The meeting was attended by the Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi and Yuliia Polishchuk, the Director of the Scientific Centre for Innovative Materials and Technologies.
In his presentation, the rector informed the participants about the status of the project implementation at USUST, as well as presented the interim results of implementation and current plans, as well as plans for the university’s infrastructure development.
As of today, according to the university’s proposals
- equipment worth approximately USD 800 thousand out of the planned USD 1500 thousand has been tendered;
- 46% of the planned equipment has already been delivered and is used by the university staff to implement projects funded by the budget, in international cooperation, and in fulfilling orders from the private sector and business;
- 25% of the equipment is expected.
It should be noted that USUST ranks second in terms of the percentage of equipment already purchased.
The next step in the project implementation is to define plans for the university’s scientific and infrastructural development. The rector noted that the premises of the centre for shared use of scientific equipment and the sports complex have been repaired; connections for equipment installation have been established; metal-plastic windows have been partially installed; additional equipment is being purchased as part of the infrastructure project and basic funding at the expense of sponsors. The works on the installation of alternative hybrid power supply systems based on renewable energy sources and energy storage facilities have begun.
Due to the UIHERP project, the university is significantly expanding the instrumental capabilities of its research infrastructure and educational process.
