Historical and patriotic lectures at USUST: memory, dignity, and resilience
At the beginning of the second semester, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted a series of online meetings with students from the SEI ‘USUCT’, ‘PSAPCS’, ‘DMI’,’DIIT’. The events were organized within the framework of the historical and patriotic lecture series ‘Resilience of the Ukrainian Nation: History and the Present’. The lectures were dedicated to significant dates in Ukraine’s contemporary history, including the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale war, and Ukrainian Women’s Day.
Commemorating the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and the first day of the full-scale war
From February 18 to 20, 2026, online meetings were held during mentor hours, dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale war. Participants reflected on the heroism of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, who became the first to stand in the struggle continuing for twelve years.
The speaker of the event was Valentyna Andriivna Babenko, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Foreign Languages, deputy dean of the Faculty of Economics at the SEI ‘PSACEA’, head of the USUST Student Affairs Office. She emphasized that the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred gave their lives for Ukraine’s right to develop as a free and democratic state.
The participants of the meetings emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of all defenders of Ukraine, those who went beyond the limits of what seemed possible and demonstrated to the world the resilience and determination of the Ukrainian people, as well as their readiness to defend dignity, freedom, and democratic values.
The image of the Ukrainian woman: an archetype of resilience
From February 25 to 27, 2026, popular science online lectures titled ‘Marusia Bohuslavka: the archetype of the resilient Ukrainian woman’ were held within the lecture series ‘Resilience of the Ukrainian nation: history and the present. The lectures were dedicated to the Ukrainian Women’s Day to mark the 155th anniversary of the birth of Lesya Ukrainka.
The speaker was Larysa Heorhiivna Bohuslavska, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Foreign Languages at the SEI ‘PSACEA’ and a specialist of the USUST Student Affairs Office. The lectures became a space for meaningful dialogue on the power of historical memory, national dignity, and the role of women in the history of Ukraine as symbols of resilience and spiritual strength. The events once again demonstarted the importance of systematic historical and patriotic work at the university as an essential component in shaping the civic consciousness and national identity of students.
