Historical and patriotic lectures at USUST dedicated to Europe Day
On May 6, 7, and 8, 2026, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted a series of online meetings with students as part of the historical and patriotic lectures ‘Resilience of the Ukrainian nation: history and present’.
The events were dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II, commemorated on May 8, as well as Europe Day, traditionally celebrated on May 9. The central topic of the meetings was the lecture ‘Ukraine’s path to the European Union: shared values and Common Goals’.
The speaker of the events was Valentyna Babenko, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and Foreign Languages of the SEI ‘PSACEA’, and head of Student Development Department at USUST.
During the lectures, particular emphasis was placed on the importance of preserving historical memory and honoring all defenders of Ukraine, both those who fought against Nazism during the Second World War and today’s Ukrainian servicemen and women who continue to defend the country’s independence, freedom, and democratic values in the face of Russian aggression.
Special attention was also devoted to the shared values of Ukraine and the European Union. The discussions highlighted respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and human rights as the fundamental principles that unite Ukrainian society with the European community.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions on issues of historical memory, national identity, and Ukraine’s European future.
The organization of such lectures contributes to the development of civic awareness among young people, strengthens national unity, and reinforces a shared sense of responsibility for Ukraine’s future as a European state.
