First-Year Students Initiation Ceremony at USUST 2025

On September 1, 2025, the Palace of Culture of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the ceremonial initiation of first-year students. For the newcomers, it was a truly special day –  their first step into the student life, full of new acquaintances and discoveries.

 

A festive atmosphere filled the university hall in the morning: modern music was playing, freshmen were actively introducing themselves to one another and taking photos near the branded photo zones, which made them feel like part of a large student family.

The celebration continued in the main hall. To the sound of fanfares and the National Anthem of Ukraine, the ceremonial event began. Kostiantyn Sukhyi, the Rector of USUST welcomed the new generation of students at the beginning  of the academic year and on their admission to the most prominent technical university of the Dnipro region. He emphasized that from now on, students will have countless opportunities to realize their ambitions, as they have become part of a unique university community that unites seven educational and scientific institutes of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.

 

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the symbolic student ID card to the representatives of  first-year students – the cherished attribute that opens the door to the world of knowledge and new opportunities.

The program included applause in honor of Ukraine’s defenders, a vibrant flash mob, and performances by talented students. Humor also found its place: Uduntikus, the university mascot, led a playful “student oath” ceremony, followed by the traditional “water initiation.”

 

The filling of the symbolic “Heart of USUST” with the energy of the freshmen – a sign of their new student life was the culmination of the event.

 

This day will remain in the memory of the newcomers as the beginning of a great journey into the world of learning, friendship, and achievements.
