First Webinar of the “Grant Writing School” Held at USUST

On May 28, 2025, the first webinar of the Grant Writing School was held at the SEI  “Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture” of Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. The thematic focus of the webinar was “Climate, Energy, and Mobility.” The event was organized by the National Contact Point at USUST in cooperation with the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine. University faculty, researchers, and staff took part in the training. The format was hybrid: the in-person part took place in Dnipro, while registered participants were able to join online.

The webinar focused on opportunities to participate in calls under the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe and on the fundamentals of preparing high-quality project proposals. Participants received step-by-step guidance from experts, learned about application requirements, consortium-building rules, evaluation criteria, and tools for finding international grants.

The speakers included:

  • Vladyslav Danishevskyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Director of the SEI PSACEA, and Head of the USUST National Contact Point;
  • Oleksandr Zhadanos, Cand. of. Sc. in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrometallurgy named after Acad. M.I. Hasyk;
  • Nataliia Chernova, Cand. of. Sc. in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the International Relations Department;
  • Nataliia Didenko, Cand. of. Sc. in Agricultural Sciences, Deputy Head of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, National Research Foundation of Ukraine.

The webinar covered the following topics:

  • current Horizon Europe calls in 2025 (Cluster 5: “Climate, Energy, and Mobility”);
  • specifics of preparing and submitting project proposals;
  • building international consortia and strategies for successful partnerships;
  • using the EU Funding & Tenders Portal to find grant opportunities.

The training concluded with a networking session and a Q&A block.

This first session of the Grant Writing School marked the beginning of a series of practice-oriented events aimed at supporting faculty and researchers in preparing high-quality applications for international funding competitions.
